Help anyone? Long time lurker never posted before. Killed a green head today that I breasted and there are white spots inside breast. Almost looks like quills on breast but that's not it. Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks for info. Never seen on any bird before.

I see 'em from time to time. Makes me wonder how many I've eaten in plucked ducks that I didn't see. I check'em now. Just in case.

You can eat them supposedly, not saying I would though

Yea technically you can eat a booger. Doesn't mean you should

Never heard of this before.
I will be on the lookout, we hardly ever kill mallards here. Mainly teal early and wood ducks with a few canvasbacks thrown in.

They can be in any duck. I've seen 'em in pintail, woodies, gadwall, mallards and widgeons for sure. Seen more in mallard, but we kill more mallards than anything else.

Worms. They cook out of meat, you will be fine never had a problem eating them. Mainly see this in big ducks.

See more of them in spoonies than anything else but mallard will come in second. I get enough duck without taking a chance on one. I know its safe to eat if cooked well but can't bring myself to try it.

like the others say...pitch it, as it is worms....I see that once or twice each season...
the duck is usually skinny as hell, to the point that the breast bone sticks out...
ETA: I read a little more and it is acutally not worms, but cysts formed around some microbial parisites....this link will tell you more..

Good read thanks. Duck was huge and fat. No visible signs until breasted
