Observation of PM center (court) on ESPN yesterday

Ok, this may be petty to some people, but LSU's court needs an Extreme Makeover. The court needs to be lightened up.. On TV the entire viewing experience seems "dark"...and not alive. To me it's noticeable and actually a big deal in terms of perception. It looked like a lot of people were there, but it just seemed dull... Like it was scrimmage or something.. But I am mainly pointing out how the court and environment looked on TV. It looked too dark, or old.
Watching the OSU vs. Michigan game today, their court is absolutely fresh, bright, and awesome looking and their fans of course bring it all together as they are on top of the court .
I realize the team needs to continue to get better to bring the fans enthusiasm back like it was in the 80's. But still, the court looks too dark, the fans too far back or something.
When you're re-building a program, it's these kind of things that need to happen IMHO.
Are there plans to change the court's deck? If so, what is the design? What about court lighting?
Maybe the HD TV broadcast was just bad and in person the court is more impressive, but it just seems dated and needing some "life".
Am I off base?

Probably not. But if this is your major concern regarding LSU sports then you have way too much free time on your hands.

I like a clean classic looking court.
That crap up at Oregon looks like shite!!
I didn't watch the game yesterday, does it still look like this?

Exactly
too much purple and gold on the court makes it look too dark

LSU's football field is a thing of beauty.. And the grass taste best of all fields..
When CBS and ESPN show the areal shots of Tiger Stadium, it's a fantastic marketing and recruiting tool for LSU
You always want to look good on TV....In uniform, your facilities, etc etc.

Watching the NC State game, I was pretty amazed how bad our arena is in comparison.
There needs to be a significant interior renovations.

I think the lighting is the issue from what I have observed. Other arenas have ample lighting throughout the stadium, while LSU's lighting is primarily focused on the court.

I live in Raleigh, NCSU's court is shared with Pro-Hockey and it's not on campus though not far away.
It is very nice.
The Dean Dome is pretty awesome, and Duke's area, you would be amazed how small it is and you can't tell it apart from the Library building... but darn, not a bad seat anywhere in there.. Really a lot of fun. Their courts are somewhat old but very traditional. Look good on TV

For the record, I believe the Oregon court is the ugliest cheesiest thing I've ever seen.

The PMAC is just poorly thought out concept. No suites, too many seats, not bright, bad scoreboards, almost as many rafter seats as lower level. It's just not good.

It was fine in the Dale Brown era. Win, and it will look much better.

Certainly. Winning cures everything. But from a fan experience standpoint, it's not good.

I agree with you, it is too dark and dull.

Not sure if anything can be done to the PMAC to significantly improve it. The present location seems too constrained for any expansion or renovation. A new arena in a new location is needed IMO.
As an aside, I've heard there is talk of removing the ramps in front, to make more space for gamedays...anyone else shed light on this?

I think the complete opposite. When TV switches to a game at the PMAC, the arena looks vibrant and colorful. It looks even better when the seats are filled.

I just don't know if it's economically feasible to build a new arena. Especially after building the practice facility.

Trust me, I know. But I don't know how else you'd add suites...the PMAC is hemmed in on all sides, especially by the track.
We will be "enjoying" the PMAC for some time to come IMO.
