It's more than just the game being too fast for him though. He lacks confidence, so much so that he is afraid to put up any shot unless he has perfect conditions to do so.
Give him just a 2 week stint in the D-League where he will likely be in the upper-third, talent-wise, so he can hopefully regain some confidence and get a lot of minutes to develop some sort of a rhythm or an idea of what his rhythm can be.

Is that why he does not shoot?
It took 30 games for his confidence to get shot?

Most D League players are better than Rivers

His first 30 games in the NBA where he flopped majorly as a starter...yeah.

I'd really like to see what he can do in this new role off the bench playing sparse minutes. This was more what I believe Dell drafted him to do originally. Kinda ease him in. That just didn't happen due to injury.
I agree that his play has been awful in the small sample size, but give him a little time. People are so impatient. If in a few weeks things aren't going better, then send him down.

This is exactly what I want to do.
Like I said earlier, I'm not saying lock him in the doldrums of the D-League where we would never hear from him again. Give him a 2 or 3-week stint and see if he can get his feet back under him. I just feel like playing him for less than 5 or 6 minutes where he looks shell-shocked 90% is productive not only for the Hornets, but more importantly for his development.

No it isnt. You're saying you want to send him down now for a short period of time.
He said give him more time in this new role of playing very limited minutes off the bench. He may adjust to this role, and start learning from Monty on the bench.

Funny, I would think his confidence would have been shot after 10 games. You seem to think his confidence is stronger than I do.

Not you, 42. Broski is making valid points and 42 has to be a sarcastic smartass.

Because if someone doesn't agree with 42's thoughts to a "T", you are clearly wrong and he is just patrolling the board to call out those progressive thinkers.
After all, he does blog for 247.

Rivers needs to spend a little time in the DLeague to remember who he is. I said on HR earlier today that I'd just like to see him play as himself. It's sad, but I bet he's more comfortable with that terrible 26 ft shot off the screen than he is with a open look.

The weak ad hominem arguments say more about you than me. This is idea that I can tolerate `dissent' is absolutely insane and is a product of the weak minds here who actually can't take it when someone points out facts that matter rather than ones that don't.
Learn to make a point.
Your point is: If he believes in himself, he can make baskets.
My point is the issue is not that. His confidence was justifiably shaken early. He's not a good NBA basketball player, like most just-20-year-olds. His lack of meat and strength is killing any ability he does have. Once that comes, then he'll have at least a shot at success.

I'm making valid points. Why you choose to discount mine as being sarcastic and not question his, I don't know.
I don't really care either.

You clearly do. You are about due for another meltdown.
Actually, no.
Still no rebuttal. I guess you just know you are wrong.
You may think it's cute to just spew nonsense then pretend it's real, but it really just makes you subtracts from the good points you do make.
I certainly wish you'd take talking about the Hornets a little more seriously and take a few opportunities to learn about the team rather than just hold to ideas that are outdated or unsupported.

Some are. Likely half the world has a weaker mind the other half. Half the world is taller than the other half.
What's your point?
