i always tip more if a friend of mine is behind the bar serving
now if that friend is also basically giving me free drinks also ill tip him what i think each drink costs that he is giving me for free

Sounds about right to me. 40-50% should be sufficient.

I have a couple friends who are bartenders. and they usually hook me up pretty well. So I give them a pretty nice tip
