Rep. Barbara Norton, D-Shreveport, is already drafting several pieces of legislation for the spring session involving school safety and gun control; one of her proposals would require gun owners to secure their firearms in their own homes at all times, or face a fine or jail time.

Too bad for her that we just amended our state constitution to protect our rights to own and use guns.

I thought about that too when I read the article. Does she not know this?

There's no chance in hell this bill will even see the house or senate floor, much less even be considered for a legislative vote. I'd put money on it not even getting out of the committee.

That was literally the first thing that popped into my mind.

No way the count can pass anything...

Haha!

I also think since the amendment had such heavy acceptance (I think the vote was 74%/26%) it would be impossible for them to pass anything anti-gun, besides the fact that our state constitution protects it with that new amendment.

She probably can't spell constitution. I doubt that she understands what it actually is.

Either that or she is so brainwashed by her dear leader that she thinks that a constitution is a document to be trampled on and ignored.

It really wouldn't matter. Look at the map of parishes for the presidential election. Caddo was a spot of blue surrounded by a sea of red.

Must've been a while since you visited S'Port. It's a matter of pure demographics..... Demographics have changed considerably in S'Port/Caddo Parish in past 20 years or so.

I suppose this law is better than nothing? I wish the wording on the above portion of the law was changed to read: "...be absolutely prohibited." Wish Virginia had something like this.

Yea, caddo parish has been overrun with democrats. I'm surprised at how "pink" DeSoto is. I would've thought my home parish was more republican than that.
