I'll answer this...

Because I see absolutely no end game for the alternative. Without even delving into the merits of any of the arguments for or against Miles or the state of the program, I can't for the life of me figure out the PURPOSE of openly complaining anonymously on a message board about it.

Here are the facts:

- Miles has won 80+% of his games while at LSU
- Miles has a multi-year deal and a very large contract

So what's the end game by constantly bitching? Is anyone under the impression that anonymous dickholes on the internet are going to persuade the AD to buyout Miles' multi-year multimillion dollar contract with that winning percentage and THEN bring in an even better coach who is ok taking a job where that just happened?

Is it just to complain without any goal in mind?

Something else?

That's why I get upset by this. I'm a fan. I love LSU football and still get the same joy I did as a kid when I walk into Tiger Stadium 7 to 8 Saturdays in the Fall. I see no purpose in this type of complaining because even if you agree with the complaints (I don't for the most part) I don;t see how it will effect any change that may be hoped for. All I see happening from this type of behavior is alienating current and potential players by making it seem like the fanbase is filled with malcontents.

Anyone ever realized that every time you get into a conversation with a true negatiger, it's always some wild eyed psycho that you know has no idea what they're talking about. No one talks football with them IRL any more, so they come to the Rant to troll the shite out of people.
I read here often & I completely disagree with this.
I've read/participated in plenty of decent threads with legitimate discussion of varying opinions (always only after you get past the initial name calling). It seems like inevitably it's the "posi-bunch" that takes the anger to a different level.

And, newflash, there are plenty of folks on both sides of the aisle that are idiots.

Which is what the positigers are doing.

Never anything positive. Just whining. The name is a misnomer.

Yeah just questioning miles is the only thing going on here. Come on trout.

I like Miles. I am consistent with my opinions. The offense needs to change. I will joke some just to get some of you upset for fun...some posters make it so easy. I HAVE NEVER SAID I WANT MILES FIRED. Just because I don't worship him like some do doesn't eman I don't like him as our coach. I just want him to be more proactive in fixing our offensive woes.

I think the positigers are by far the most negative fans on here though. Why not just have an intelligent discussion? BTW I respect a lot of your posts because you actually have some knowledge about the game.

1. Soon as anything is posted that somebody here labels "nega" the usual suspects start piling on with name-calling, stupid-calling, and assorted other dumb, non-constructive posts.
2. In the last several years, the clear, clear, clear goal of those who are posting their concerns, critiques, or ideas has been to try to make sense of why this coach does not change his offensive coaching practices, why he puts up the most simplistic, predictable and ineffective offensive schemes, and why LSU has been stuck in the 80s or worse nationally on offensive stat rankings (when we claim to be elite). And ultimately the goal crystalizes in two specific ways:
A. Hire a for-real OC. And,
B. Please Coach Miles, let your OC do his OC thing without meddling. Dammit!

It's a message board, no?
Everyone is free to express their own views. It's just that certain folks really love to bash the shite out of another faction for doing exactly that.

I have to go back to...if it bugs you all so much, why read the messages?

By "positigers," I presume you mean the irrationally exuberant, wilfuly ignorant fools who are oblivious to any flaws in Miles or the staff, rather than posters who have a measured but optimistic view of the program? If so, that sect really shouldn't be referred to as "positigers," but rather as Idolators of Les Miles. They have predicated their entire interest in the LSU program on their love and deification of one man. They can't distinguish between LSU qua program and the individual who happens to coach them at any given moment. In that regard, they are absolutely no different than the "Sabanistas" they profess to disdain. Both are cults of personality revolving around a single individual.

As to why the Idolators are so belligerent, it is because they are growing desperate. Saban has outdistanced Miles, Alabama is ascendant, LSU clearly isn't the premier program in the SEC West, LSU hasn't won an NC in half a decade, and Miles has suffered a number of setbacks this past year: 1/9, a subpar 2012 recruiting class, off the field shenanigans like Tyrann's dismissal, a home loss to Alabama which included some quizzical coaching decisions, continuing offensive stagnation, and - most recently - losing an eleven point fourth quarter lead to Clemson. Rather than objectively discussing the past year and its implications, the Idolators believe they can efface history by dint of sheer frenzy and posting volume. Hence the rabid frothing. This is what happens when you take extreme positions and then insist on clinging to them despite all evidence.

In any event, thankfully such posters constitute a tiny fraction of the fanbase. Most people recognize Miles's true strengths and deficiencies. Similarly, most people recognize that irrespective of those deficiencies, Miles will be the head coach at LSU for the foreseeable future. All we can do is hope that Miles improves, rectifies his flaws, and leads us to an NC. There's nothing else to be done at this juncture.

I'm not defending the back and forth...I'm asking what the point in the first place is.

If it was just discussing worries, I'd agree here. But it's not. It's never been that. The place is negative in so many useless ways...to bashing current and former players is they disappoint in some way, to bashing coaches, etc.

If the goal was REALLY to effect change, then why post vitriol here? Why not to directly to the source and voice complaints to the AD? Address it with higher up with TAF.

What this place becomes more often than not is a mob who sees blood in the water and piles on. I just don;t see anything constructive coming from that...and as I guy that loves LSU I find that behavior more than counter productive.

Because in this case, they dominate the board. At any point, nearly every thread on the first page in one way or another is something negative about the program. I thought this was an LSU fan board?

No...the end game there is easier to define. It's to get them to see the follow in their ways and to stop it. That's possible...though unlikely. Bitching on a message board is not going to get the LSU AD to buyout Miles contract...ever.

Great example of a well thought out posit.
Yet you'll get bashed as an idiot (& worse) with ridiculous disdain simply b/c others disagree with you.
BTW-I completely agree with the first paragraph. I really am refering to the Miles Gestapo. Everyone knows who they are for the most part.
