I enjoyed it. Never read the books but. I do wish the powers would not have interfered so much. Starting the fire, sending in the hound things.
This. The hound thing almost ruined it for me.

It wasn't bad. Totally predictable, though.

The hound creatures were in the book, and they served a purpose there. They were supposed to show how cruel the Capitol was. I think this was lost in the movie.

The whole concept just bothered me too much. If the organizers really ran things like that the event would last one or two years max. When they decided to committ suicide at the end it was like, "Oh really, they never could have predicted that". My first thought was if I got picked I'd kill myself in front of the tv camera and tell them to go frick themselves.

The capitol controls every aspect of everyone's life. That is the entire premise of the series.
The killing yourself comment is just stupid. I'm not sure what you think that would accomplish or what you even meant behind it. The capitol runs an extremely totalitarian state and is incredibly advanced. If you were to attempt to kill yourself, they would probably intervene (see what happened in this movie). The idea of "rebellion" doesn't really exist and for Katniss to do that at the end mainly depicts her character. It was basically her way of showing that the capitol doesn't control her actions, the capitol didn't want other people to get the same idea so they played it off as a joke. This back fired and the result is in the next 2 movies.

The movie was a huge disappointment. I also read the books and thought the first was solid but the next 2 were abysmal.

I enjoyed the movie but did think it wasn't as good as book 1. Book 2 and 3 were entertaining but didn't have the originality that 1 had.

I read the books before seeing the movie.
That being said, I think they dropped the ball a little conceptually on the movie.
6/10
This is me as well. The book is better than the movie. That being said the 2nd and 3rd movies may be better than the books.
If you're going to read the books do yourself a favor. Read the first because it's great, read the second to continue the story. Pretend like the story is resolved and don't read the abortion of a 3rd book.
Seriously the 3rd book is excruciatingly bad to the point where I was almost rooting against Katniss. On the positive side it only take a few hours to read

The book took 2 hours to read, it was entertaining in the sense that I flew through it

It was entertaining when bad things happened to the annoying people, so everybody except Finnick

I thought it was good. Way better than most the crap that girls read these days. A clear step up from "Twilight". I wish it was way more violent and gory though.

These types of books are really bubble gum pop fiction in the same vein as harry potter, twilight, and the da vinci code books. When reading something like that I'm not expecting my mind to be blown, and I'm not expecting Hemmingway. I'm just looking to burn a few hours when I don't feel like thinking very hard.
All three books accomplished this goal for me. For what they are I think the movie and books are very good. You have to temper your expectations with this type of entertainment.

He probably didn't see her as a real threat.
That's a reasonable explanation, but I would've killed her in a heartbeat if I were in that black guy's situation.
She was the front runner going into the match, which is why that group sought (and rightly so) to eliminate her first. If he did this because he thought she wasn't a threat, he clearly wasn't intelligent.
But the alliances didn't make much sense to me. I'd just get up and slit their throats during the first or second night.

If you compare these books to Harry Potter again I'll murder all of your relatives in front of you. You'll have to become The Punisher to get back at me

I'd say its much more insulting to compare Harry Potter to Twilight than the Hunger Games. As Stephen King puts it:

I just chose to ignore the Twilight part, I've also never read any of those books or seen the movies so it'd be unfair for me to bash them I guess

Never read the third. Never will. You're about the 10th person I've heard or read that from.
