Miles has obviously done a horrendous job of picking out offensive coordinators and some say his fingerprint is on the offensive scheme. Regardless, our QB play is a joke and has been which is either poor recruiting or poor player development, do the Miles supporters see this as an issue? If so, what's the solution and do you believe Miles will do anything to improve that facet of the offense?

When players consistently don't execute, whether you want to blame the o-line, the coordinators or whomever, it still falls back on the head coach.

can they answer a straight question about the offense? they always start spouting how many wins we've had. That's not the question.

they like miles and everything is fine. will they be happy to see the same offense, or worse, next year and the years to come?

I really find it amusing that Miles' quarterbacks had no problems at OSU and the first few years he was here... high flying explosive offenses we the norm. What has changed so much?

Yes it is an issue. I think both poor recruiting and very poor player development. I am not sure Miles is will ever bring in a top flight oc cause either a good one will not come or Miles selects a retread.

So it's Miles fault the QB overthrows receivers? That he misses at times wide open guys? Im sorry I didn't know miles was on the field, you can teach all you want the bottom line is, It's on the players to execute and do their jobs. Bottom line. Stop with the retarded threads already.

You see, its all execution in their minds. For five years now, we have not had good enough players to properly execute our genius system and outstanding playcalling.

I'd say our QB play improved this year. Mett threw for about 600 more yards than Lee and Jefferson combined last year, while playing 1 less game.

And I'd definitely say Mett improved throughout the season.

In the month of November he threw for 1068 yard, which was about 40% of his season total in 4 games. In that span his completion % was 61.65% with a 2:1 TD:Int ratio. He definitely improved down the stretch of the season.

I wouldn't call him a joke this past year, just a first year starter with inconsistent play at times.

We need to recruit a quarterback that fits our offense instead of bringing in the big name guys. Alabama brings in qbs that fat their offense and they grow them up in the system. Ben Roethlisberger won his 1st Superbowl bc he managed the game well, made an occasional big play, and had a great defense. We won our champioships w/ qbs that managed our offense. While Mett is a talent, LSU will never conform to an offense that would utilize his talents. We run and play D. Find a guy that can see a cornerback coming, find a guy that can make a play out of nothing b/c of pure instict. We don't need a star, we need a guy that won't lose the game and a guy that makes a big play from time to time.

Mettenberger is as legit of a QB prospect as you can get. He has all the tools to be an excellent pro-style QB. Our offense has no identity. Our development of OLine, QB, and WR is horrendous.

Couple things could really open up the offense:

1. Bama doesn't need a stinking fullback to run the ball. Why do we? The FB takes up a useful skilled position - rb/wr/te - that could be used to expand the x and o possibilities against defenses.

2. In light of #1 I don't understand why they haven't thought of using an old school 2 RB formation - with split backs instead of the power I. So many run/pass options with a combination of Hill/Ware or Ford/Hill or Hilliard/Hill etc. This could have been done with our backs over the last 5 years. Don't have to give up the FB permanently, but not use one on nearly every friggin down.

maybe to the simplistic who only focus on losses.

the injuries and defections that decimated a very good oline and the mindless actions of key players who thought that getting high was more important than the responsibility they had to the program were obviously Les Mile's fault. these are not excuses butthead...they are facts and those very facts, which you and the other twats so conveniently ignore, are the very reason why Mett didn't progress as we all had hoped. another fact that douchebags like you refuse to comtemplate is that the state of Louisiana is seemingly incapable of producing top tier QB talent and when it does that talent makes the same bullshite, self destructive choices that some of our other top talents tend to. relying on oos QB talent is risky business and we've recently been burned by kids from Texas and Indiana but I'm sure to you that is Les Miles' fault. Les Miles, like all coaches has made mistakes, but IMO never let his kids down. I really wish the same could be said for some very talented kids from Louisiana who basically quit on the team, themselves and a staff that puts everything it has into those kids.

not a doom and gloom or sunshine pumper, but LSU's offensive line has to get better, before the qb will.

Work out a player exchange program with UGA. find out how they always get top notch QBs but can't ever do shite with them.

I think it is more about predictability with Mettenberger. Everyone knows when we will pass and when we will run. I remember a couple games where we had to max protect and have 2 man routes. If we could have more options and use them consistently it would open the field. I say a combo of things.

Les Miles has not proven that he knows how to game plan an offense on a regular basis much less coach up a quarterback.

Dude has never coached up a qb.

One game a year, offense plays almost a complete game. That game this year was Alabama.
