Nice LA Times article about that fateful day in Pasadena.
The top scorer in collage basketball history, Pete averaged 44 points a game. Had the three point shot been used then, he would have averaged over 57 points per game. Truly amazing. I'm blessed to have met him and seen him play in person with the Jazz. A great Tiger. Maybe the best ever.

Pistol's statue should be outside the PMAC.
His grave is sitting 100 feet or so behind the mausoleum in the big cemetery over by parkview baptist. Don Reddon (also an LSU legacy) is buried close to pete one row up.
just fyi.

What caused his early death? He was still young.

LSU Legend, and probably the best College Basketball player of all-time.

He died from an enlarged heart. The same thing that claimed Don R.

I saw every game he played in at the "Horse Pit". Was even more unbelievable in person. And, he was usually at least double teamed every game, because he was all LSU had .....
and yes, I did have some "floppy socks" ...
RIP Pistol

My all time favorite LSU Tiger.

I was driving by the Assembly Center (aka Pete's Palace -- now "the PMAC") when I heard about it on the radio. To me, it was so sad that I just pulled over for a little while. I remember they gave his age, and I couldn't believe he died so young.
