He plays more last season....we beat Florida this season, and possibly Bama.
Yeah, ok.

No I'm trying to say that the overall record for LSU is better than any teams not named bama in recent history, some with better talent.
But no credit is given there.
There is no arguing his record. But even the unknowledgeable fans can see the offense prevents this team from achieving more. It is what it is.
I don't care much about recruiting rankings anyway. USC continually gets top notch QBs, wrs, and rbs. If a team has needs at dline, oline, secondary etc what is the point in stockpiling at positions that players won't see the field?
I will admit Miles generally does a good job of this....sure it may mean a sub top ten class every few years but you have to recruit need first.

Yeah, ok.
Why are you hating on Mett? He played much better over the second half of the season. Given more DEVELOPMENT sooner, he would have been better earlier obviously.

And Mett...just sat there having to wait another year for everything to click. He plays more last season....we beat Florida this season, and possibly Bama.
I couldn't agree more. I don't think people realize how valuable in game experience really is. Instead it took 7 or 8 games for Mett to develop....could have been 2-3 games had he played some significant time last year.

I'm not hating on anyone. I'm hating on your ridiculous assumptions that Mett would have played better this year if he had played a snap or two in the Championship game.

quote:What I couldn't understand last year (2011) was why *CLM did not give Mett anything like meaningful reps, even when LSU had the game in hand early. He knew that Mett would be our starter in 2012. He had to know that reps would only pay dividends when the new season came (or when an unexpected need might arise), but he got virtually nothing. Mett in the Bama game of 1/9 may have made no difference in the outcome, but at least it would have appeared LSU was not going to go down without a fight. But no. And so, we know what happened then. And we know what happened on 12/31. Other than recruit and promise the moon, Les Miles does not seem to know what to do with his talent and skill positions. That's all I can conclude.

I already posted this on the RB, but it has particular relevance to this thread/topic...
See Confirmation Bias: "a tendency of people to favor information that confirms their beliefs or hypotheses."
This leads to attitude polarization: "when a disagreement becomes more extreme even though the different parties are exposed to the same evidence"
Seeing human psychology extrapolated on TigerDroppings is fun

I picture unknownknight as Hitler beating his hand on his podium every time he counters with his assumptions.

I will never understand why he wouldn't do so. We play young guys at every position to gain depth and experience....except for the most important position

I think anyone who is honest with themselves can conclude this.

To be fair, most people felt LSU was the most talented team in the country THIS YEAR before the season started.

Don't mistake pride for commitment. I don't take pride in watching LSU be second/third rate, unlike you. I'm just a reluctant Paul Revere.

and i'm ok with that because it's a fair criticism. it's the people that want him fired for being the 2nd or 3rd most successful program in the toughest division in the toughest conference since he's been here. it's the ones who have a total lack of perspective that seem to be taking over the rant. (i know, it's probably not a new thing)

It's your story, pal. Tell it like you want.

what does 2nd/3rd rate mean to you?
ranked?
or tiers?
who is ahead of LSU?
Alabama is the obvious answer. so name other teams who are 1st rate??

A program and fans being content being one of 25-30 teams winning 10 games a season when freaking VANDY has won 9.
But hey....REMEMBER THE 90's!!!!!!
