What I find the funniest part is that the Bee Zanie section has lacked attendance the last couple of games, when you give people free tickets and they still dont show up
I hate the Bee Zanies please Benson end this experiment, fans from Louisville and Florida were laughing the whole time, they are an embarrasment, when I go to a Hornets game and the poor entertainment and cheap atmosphere make me feel like I am in the movie Semi-Pro

Did you not notice the weather?
I'm normally one of those people that don't like the fact that more people don't support the team, but nobody should have expected a big crowd tonight.

That's because football never mattered.
The attendance is going to suck all year. Have you not noticed? Do you know nothing about basketball fans? They flock to wins. Low wins this year plus low wins last year leads plus no star power leads to low attendance.
It will pick up with the interest rises . . . with wins. And then it will drop when they lose.
You can go find exceptions, I'm sure, but this is the general rule.
Maybe one days you'll learn a single fact. One can only hope.

I'd love the attendance to pick up. But they're a bad team and haven't won at home in a month.

So when the fans show up to the game 80% of them will just be fairweather/bandwagon fans like in 2007-2008?

we suck maybe thats why people are not going

Meh it's New Years Day, I didn't expect a large attendance as there can still be a lot going on for people

The way I see people talk about how much New Orleans NEEDS this team I would think it'd have a great crowd each night. Since the team "sucks" tho none of them hardcore fans have to show up? Hopefully the Heat come to town soon so the New Orleans Heat fans will pack the stands since the Hornet fans can't do it.

Were the bobcats giving free tickets if they hit 1 three point shot early in the season?

I mean, the Hornets are still the newest team in the area and the furthest theyve gone in the playoffs was the second round 5 years ago. What exactly do you expect.
I was at the game tonight.

this is true. I'm new to the Hornets board and I'll already apologize for the lengthy post, but it seems there are some people who will just downright lie to themselves and make up ridiculous excuses for the horrible fan support this team gets. even when the Hornets had Chris Paul and was a playoff team 3 out of 4 years from 07-11, they had relatively poor attendance and fan support every year with the exception of one season (2008-09 season where they averaged almost 17,000. the other three seasons were between 14,000-15,000).
you can always tell the ones who have not traveled outside of the Gulf South much and have not seen how other markets with professional sports teams operate because they are always the first to come up with ridiculous excuses time and time again instead of accepting the truth. New Orleans, and Louisiana in general is just not a good basketball market. some of the endless excuses made by some are quite entertaining though. New Orleans is not the only market that has to deal with:
- sharing the market with other teams
- bad weather
- high school football playoffs (lol best one yet)
- not having winning seasons every year
- Holidays like Halloween (another good one. trick or treating kept the fans from coming out according to one poster)
- expensive tickets (which is funny considering the Hornets are in the bottom three for ticket cost)
no one is saying that the Hornets should be selling out every single game and staying at the top of the NBA in attendance. that will never happen because of the market size. however the fan support in this state for the Hornets is downright pitiful compared to probably every other NBA team except maybe Charlotte. its sad really that we have an NBA team in our backyard and no one really cares. you can go to any sports bar outside of NOLA and there is a good chance you won't see anything of the Hornets and if you do it will be very little. its not anyone's fault, that's just how it is. how do we fix it? how do the Hornets fix it? the demand for basketball in this state is just unfortunately not there.

Yes. Of course. Just like most event attendees. Anyone see the crowd for the Panthers game?
So what's the issue?
You seem a poorweather poster, only writing about something few consider to be abnormal or an issue. You should be all on some sort of wagon, big ND fan.
Attendance sucks and will suck next year. Make a point.
