This is gunna be gud
quote:
Players throughout the season gave a uniform voice of support for New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and the drastically different scheme he brought to the team when the Saints hired him one year ago. That doesn't sound like the case anymore.
One Saints player, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said a "resounding" yes when asked if he thought Spagnuolo should be fired after just one season in New Orleans as the Saints broke the single-season record for most yards allowed.
"Trust me all the guys were being politically correct this season when answering questions (this season)," the player said. "It's bad."
The player added: "To give up what we gave up can't be all talent. Look at where his units (have) been ranked before. I think one top 10?"
The Saints finished last in the NFL in total defense, last in run defense, 31st in pass defense, 31st in points allowed and tied for 29th in sacks.
"Players have no say in anything," the player said. "It was (a) complete opposite from before where it was a simple D that players had lot of control and say. We couldn't suggest (expletive)...Nothing ever changed. It was his way only.
"Don't even get me started on lack (of) ability to adjust during games. Bad, bad, bad."
The player also said every position group on defense was frustrated with Spagnuolo's scheme all season. "(It was) tough putting on a supportive, everything-will-be-OK face, for you guys (the media) all the time," the player said.
The player said it wasn't just wasn't Spagnuolo's scheme that rubbed players the wrong way. It was Spagnuolo as a coach and a person.
"He does have that good-guy persona, but he is a control freak and treats people like crap," the player said. (Spagnuolo has) no patience and zero personality. (He) has a way of pissing players and our defensive coaches off with how he says and does things. (I) think it's even harder after having (former defensive coordinator) Gregg (Williams), who guys enjoyed."

this snitching shite has to stop around here.
want to voice your displeasure then come out and say who you are to have any credibility.

Williams threw the players and organization under the bus. I would like to know what player still supports him or has the audacity to say anything nice about him

This Unnamed player is acting like we had a 2000s Ravens-like defense before Spags got here. We had a simple defense that allowed the players to create? All I remember is blitzing all the time and DBs getting torched.

This yr all i can remember is our DBs getting torched, our run defense non existent, and unable to get pressure.

What a dick move by this player. I have a pretty good idea who it is. Probably the guy that got benched halfway through the season. I like Larry Holder, but I question him going to print with this

Yes a mirror image of all of William's defenses that didn't have Darren Sharper. We need talent on D whether Spags stays or goes.

Wow. A lot of that seems like a load of crap to me. Whoever this guy is really doesn't think it's the talent? And no ability to adjust? I give a pass on the first 4 games considering all the suspensions and whatnot. But Spags really started to show his mettle and things coming together. Take a look at the Atlanta game for example. Brees had 5 picks and they still only won by a little over a TD. While this defense had been horrendous at times, even a blind man can see the potential and progress they made.
Oh and when you can't apply a single lick of QB pressure without nearly sending the house on every play, then yeah, I'd say its a talent deficit

I think you guessed right fwiw.
Could have been Big Sed though. He probably isn't coming back so he threw a parting shot at Spags?

Doubtful. He's been pretty vocal in the media since he's been benched and he knows he's not coming back so why does he need anonymity. If I had to guess I'd go Harper or Jenkins.

Ellis at least started all year and hasnt been known to speak out and make comments like that. Shanle got benched and has been known to speak out or talk trash. Comments like that I can see even him being anonymous.
