So if they're 16-12 they don't fire Avery? 2 games? That's why it's a knee jerk reaction.
I pointed that out in the beginning of the thread. The problem is the GM who constructed the team isn't fired and is leading the coaching search. If King has convinced Prokhorov that they are a 50 win team and should be in the ECF like he said then they have much bigger problems than Avery.
And honestly if teams around the league still view Deron as a star and could get a good return they should have cashed out there. But like you said, with the new city/brand they are attached to Deron I guess. Nets can't compete when they're paying Deron and JJ a combined 40 million a year or whatever it is. Dallas dodged a bullet when they didn't get him for a max contract.

But once again, it's all about results. Whether or not the cards were stacked against him to begin with, he failed. His players failed. The GM failed. The owner failed. There's enough blame to go around. As another poster pointed it, it's easier to replace the coach and unload a bunch of bad contracts.

They probably still do... and this goes back to the player/coach relationships I mentioned earlier.

Maybe he should and will get fired too... but it's usually the coach that goes first. Throwing their salaries aside, I really like the way the team was constructed. A bunch of vets who at stage in their career, are ready to win.
PG - Deron Williams, CJ Watson
SG - Joe Johnson, Marshon Brooks
SF - Gerald Wallace
PF - Kris Humphries, Andray Blatche, Reggie Evans
C - Brook Lopez
Call me crazy but that looks like a well constructed team. They all fit their profile... not a bunch of tweeners.

I think he would have worked really well with Carlisle. One of my favorite coaches. And honestly though... you think Prokhorov cares that much about going over the cap if he really wanted someone?
