Kevin Pelton, the author of the article, was on this podcast talking about the article and a number of the issues brought up in this thread like the benefits of getting experience vs the possibility getting his confidence smashed.

I didn't really pay that much attention beforehand, but Rivers' shooting form should have been a huge red flag. The only other perimeter player in the last 20 years that I can think of with form that terrible was Shawn Marion, but he was so physically gifted that he made up for it.
Maybe they try to work on it or maybe they don't. If they don't, he will be a streaky shooter at best for his whole career.

I'm not at all worried about this. Frankly, testing his confidence this year could help. Maybe he works harder. Maybe he fixes his form.
Either way, he's either an alpha dog or not. This may go a long way toward learning which. Either man up or fold.

quote:Listened to the podcast last night and really enjoyed it. But ask Mcnamara to stop disguising his own questions and complaints about Rivers' critics as those of "fans." Everybody knows he's been carrying the Rivers bandwagon flag since the summer.
