I currently bought a VITA - the sales for the VITA were downright awful.. for a year after the release. After the year mark hit - and new games started coming out - sales have almost caught up with the 3DS.

You realize the Vita is almost a dead console at this point? It's sad, because it's my favorite handheld, but there is no monetary interest for devs to make AAA games for it. The announced bioshock for vita hasn't even started development because there are discussions that the user base is too small and that to break even the game would need an insane attach rate. Comparing the WiiU to the VITA isn't the best idea.

But once games that can only be found on that system start coming out.. sales increase exponentially, that's why Ninty wins this gen: because they have the most exclusive gaming lineup of any of the consoles.. in fact, they have more exclusive games - than both consoles combined.

Nintendo has fewer critically acclaimed exclusives then Microsoft or Sony this gen and they sell less.

yet they still sold: Worldwide: 97.18 million Wiis

compared to:

Worldwide: 70 million sold for the 360

and that's with the 360's highest bought game being a "game that comes pre-packaged with the system" Kinect Adventures (18 million sold)

while the Wii's highest selling game actually had to be bought:

Mario Kart Wii, 32.44 million, and that's as of March of this year!

Go on..

You know they said the same thing about the 3DS right?

The VITA is far from dead, just give it time..

In just the last 2 weeks I have gotten 20 friend request from people on "Near" that got VITAs for Christmas or around that time. Sales were MUCH better than Sony had ever expected as well.

Pretty sure Assassin's Creed Liberation has been a great success and is proof that is developers put out big titles, it will be well-received. Even the Call of Duty for Vita has sold moderately well and it's the worst reviewed game on the platform.

Bioshock Vita is an odd case though. Take 2 pretty much wants Sony to not only foot the bill but do the development themselves. Vita development also is not very expensive. You generally need to sell less than half of PS3/360 game to break even.
