Man so I'm not the only one that thought the middle shelves looked stressed?! Looked a tad bowed in the middle

WAY bowed in the middle. I thought I had mentioned that in the original post. But yes so bad we had to abandon the original layout. I started at the top shelf and loaded all the pappy and BTAC on it and quickly removed it. The shelf was bowed and would shake and wobble looking at it....I said nope! The pic on the side with the pappy/btac in on the middle shelf...you can see a 4 roses in the middle of the Jeffersons...thats actually wedged in supporting the shelf. Same thing on the other side...the 4r 125th is a support.

Ah yea you did mention that I forgot
So what you gonna do? Thicker shelves or build in some supports?

Anyone ever add a splash of grand marnier to an Old Fashioned?
Posted on 10/31/14 at 12:56 pm to gmrkr5
Cant do thicker shelves...in order for me to get 3 full usable shelves (2 that can handle standard BTAC sized bottles and 1 for 4 roses sized) I have just enough room. I actually have to space the top shelf up about 1/2" so the bottles fit under it. I am either going to run some wood strips on the back edge of the shelf (just a little one on the front), maybe a thin sheet of metal of some sort glued to the underside of the shelf, or maybe just full metal shelves. Same thickness as the wood but way stronger.
wick I have not but that sounds like a hell of a idea!

Wife got me a set of these for my birthday this week....anyone got good recipe for Kentucky Mule?

Nola, that has to be a conversation your builder hasn't ever had...sorry, the shelves you installed aren't sturdy enough to handle my liquor supply.
Wick, I add GM regularly to mine. Not much, maybe 1/3 or 1/4 the rye I put in. Gives that nice orange flavor.

High west double rye, masterson's, Willet 6yr, or Thomas handy 2012. All good in OF's. And use both bitters.

Hmmm a handy rye...I bet that is awesome...may have to try that.
I usually use 4 roses SB

Also, I'm thinking about making my own barrel strength Four Roses Small Batch recipe. Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions?
Posted on 10/31/14 at 3:08 pm to Sisyphus
I've thought about that too! I'd look at the prior releases and maybe follow those as a guide and see what you get.

I'm going to attempt the recipe from 2012 and 2013, OBSV, OBSK, and OESK.
