I have a paid for 2007 Toyota Tacoma with 104,500 miles. 4 Door Prerunner Long bed. I was offered $13,000 for it the other day.
I have an opportunity to get a 2005 GMC Yukon with 99,400 miles and after TTL come out about $500 ahead on the deal.
Looking for the advice/opinios of the Money Talk board. Swap vehicles and come out $500 ahead but for 2 yr older model. Or just stay put...

Numbers wise, yes. Guess it depends on what you want to drive.

If I were in your shoes, I'd keep the Toyota. They make a better vehicle than GMC, especially considering the years that you are looking at.

Are you the only owner of the Toyota? If not, how long have you had it? 5k miles and $500 isn't enough for me to take on an unknown risk like a used vehicle. If you really need to upgrade, then maybe it means more to you for the bigger vehicle.
Also, that $500 will disappear with the decreased mpg.

Stay with the tacoma, no question. I'm not saying it would be stupid to trade, but it would be stupid to trade. Three things to consider: resale value, reliability, and gas mileage. Look into those for both vehicles and you will see that it is a no brainer.

there is a reason why the toyota is worth more of a % of its original value than the GMC is, keep it

No way in hell I would make that trade. Especially if you've owned the Taco for a while and know where it's been and how it's been maintained.

I've found a need for a truck at least twice a week for the last 3 months.
