I'm sure it's been discussed but what is the OB's opinions on Springfield's SAINT?

Which scope mounts do y'all use for your AR's?

it's a BCM with Springfield rollmark slapped on it. nothing special, nice price point

What's a good grease to use for an M1A?
Posted on 11/6/16 at 9:57 pm to upgrayedd
Brownell's XF7 is good for the money. we use a ton of different types of greases, theyre all pretty similar. you'll be fine with whatever

Anyone got any builds in the works?
Did an ultra lightweight build with only a couple of parts purchased for reasons other than weight, just put the finishing touches on it last night
Lower: Tennessee Arms Polymer Lower w/steel inserts; $42.99 5.6 ounces
Trigger: Geiselle SSA; $172, weight unknown
JP Capture Spring; $139.99, 7.2 ounces
V7 Buffer Tube; $48.50, 3.6 ounces
V7 Castle Nut End Plate combo; $43.65, 6.7 grams, 5.5 grams
V7 Hybrid Ambi Safety; $57.23, 9.7 grams
V7 Ultra Light Magazine Catch / FDE; $34.00, 4.9 grams
V7 Ultra-Light 8620 Alloy Bolt Catch Kit; $20.37, 9 grams
V7 Ultra-Light Take Down Pins; $27.28, 5 grams
V7 trigger/hammer pins; $17.00, 2.35 grams
BCM Keymod Short Vertical Grip; $39.95, 1.9 ounces
Magpul K Grip; $13.61, 2.4 ounces
Mission First Tactical Stock; $37.09, 5.8 ounces
BCM KMR Alpha 16in Enhanced Lightweight upper, fluted; $628.95, 3lbs inc/BCG-CH
BCM FDE BCG; $190
BCM Vltor Ambi Charging handle; $60.50,
Inforce WML; $126.00, 4 ounces
BCM FDE Nylon Keymod Rail; $7.44, weight unknown
Griffin Armament Minimilist Titanium Brake; $90.05, 1 ounce
Decided against using my Aimpoint, left it on my 300BLK SBR and put a Vortex Viper PST 1x4 in an Aero lightweight 30mm tube. Could have gone lighter with the BCG but I don't use anything but BCM BCGs. Could have gone lighter with the buffer tube instead of the capture spring but I am shooting suppressed, which worked out perfectly with the Griffin muzzle device needed for my Optimus. I went with the Alpha rail instead of the KMR because I was tired of waiting for it.

Slowly building my second. PSA lower with MFT stock (should come in today). Putting a complete BCM upper. Replace stock trigger with SSA-E eventually. Likely with an Aimpoint. Who knows when I'll finish.

I have a question regarding drop in handguard.
I have a carbine length. Core15 m4 scout with a low profile gas black. I don't want to get into adding a free float handguard because I don't have the tools to do it but want an extended handguard. I see many drop in extended handguards with space for the front sight post.
Are there any carbine extended drop in handguards that do not have this front sight post space?

?
If you have a low profile gas block you won't have the retention ring for a drop in guard. Im 99% sure you won't have the delta ring either. I've never seen this type of set up at least, other than a railed gas block.
Post a pict of your current handguard

Ah. Never seen a setup like that
That doesn't give you many options for irons. I'd either swap out for a FSB or just get a free float rail if your goal is to set up iron sights. You don't really want them mounted to a drop in guard.
But even if not, I don't know that I've seen an extended drop in for something like that

To put a free float on I would have to remove the gas block, retention ring, and delta ring? Is theee any way around removing the gas block to get these off? I am new to this.

You can cut the delta ring off. Not so much for the other retention ring on the gas block.
In all honesty any gun shop should be able to install a free float for pretty cheap. Wouldn't take them more than 10min. That would pretty much open you up to any handguard on the market

Ain't nothing a Dremel tool can't solve in 5 minutes.
But if you want to do it right, I'm sure someone local can help.
Lots of free float rails use the factory barrel nut so just find the one you like.

You think you can dremel the front ring off? Guess it's possible, just seems like it's fit pretty tight to the barrel to be able to dremel all the way through it
Also would have to dremel around the gas tube

What about the Daniel defense omega rail? I see it fits the standard omega ring. Is it a good free float?

They won't extend over the gas block like you wanted. It will be the same length as your current drop in guard.
Other than that, it will work
