one thing stands out. if the league drops/reduces suspensions, it makes the case against Goodell stronger (he screwed up).
This is incentive for the league (Tags) to hold fast on all initial suspensions.
I wouldnt expect to see any reductions. And it looks like this will linger in to next season potenially scrwing it up a bit too...
A potential win for goodell. We lose our coaches/GM this year, and lose our players next year. Theyve fricked us for 2 years.

Ahhh frick it. Who cares. Season is over and Payton will be back next year so it's moot now. We should be moving on from the Vilma/Smith era so IDGAF about them being suspended. We need to infuse young, talented playmakers on the front 7. Good luck to Vilma to clear his name, but if it stays the same, I won't shed a tear.

That's why I mentioned "no win" situation.
However, after things start to look really bad for a client, a level-headed atty will step up and start discussing exit strategies.

This is partly true. Tags will come back with the same penalties as Goodell for that very reason, but Vilma and the others can't be suspended into next season, as the original suspension said "for the 2012 season" and not "an entire season". In order for Vilma to be penalized next year, Tags would have to rescind Goodell's punishment and make one of his own. But Tags won't do that because it would cripple Goodell's chances in defamation suit
