dude, we haven't done well in texas in about 4 years. seems like i remember one of our asst's was the recruiter there and he left. also, don't forget about the guy we hired to evaluate talent for us and how he got oregon in trouble and almost got us in trouble too. the situation is in flux in tejas and so many schools recruit here that it looks to me miles has shifted focus and is being quite successful in the southeast, sans florida.

LSU has not been as focused on recruiting in Texas as in the past for some reason. We still show an interest in WR and DB from Texas, but we have seemed to look elsewhere for other positions. Maybe Les thinks the adoption of the spread offense by Texas high schools has turned them too soft for the type of football he prefers? He has been pretty successful in getting players who play his style of football from Georgia and South Carolina the past couple of years.
As far as A&M's recruiting goes, the players they are getting are players who would have selected Oklahoma or Texas before LSU. So they are not hurting our recruiting. They have improved theirs. If they can reload their offensive line while improving their defense and depth, they will be a serious challenge for Alabama and LSU in the SEC West. It was always a possibility with the right people running their program.

I agree A&M is getting more players than usual from Texas. If you look at Texas for this recruiting cycle, it's pretty split at the top between Texas, A&M, and OU where in the past it was mostly Texas and OU. I also don't believe it hurts LSU, it hurts Texas and OU and makes A&M more competitive.

exactly the opposite. Kids in Texas wanting to play in the SEC have to look no further than A&M. Of course, we'll still get our share - just won't be quite as easy.

Then what does LSU's top 5 class fall apart?
We still recruit and get what we need when we need it.

Of course not.
I don't know why some people are getting butt hurt. I'm not advocating against LSU. I'm just saying some people need to take of the purple and gold glasses and realize that Bama can offer a recruit just as much as LSU can.

How are they able to have 33 commits and 34 if RSJ goes? They had 19 commits last year, so they could have 31, but how 34?

We went after some guys, we just haven't landed any this year. We got at least 3 Texas guys last year (Hunter, Mills, Thompson) and are recruiting a bunch for 2014. Maybe this year wasn't as strong at the positions we needed in Texas?

What exactly does bama have to do with this thread. And weren't you the one all butthurt over lsu losing the 3 instate guys from last year and complaining we may lose beckwith in the Beckwith thread.
#hypocrite
Since you brought it up, bama or A&M, etc offer exactly nothing lsu can't offer. Lots of times the only thing that cannot be matched is distance or location from family. This matters to majority of kids and their family, not so much to others.

It should help us, but not as much as it helps A&M in their own state.
Over time, the inclusion of A&M to the SEC will open Texas up to the SEC, and with our common border, Miles would be crazy not to recruit Texas as if his life depended on it. Miles needs to expand beyond the Houston area for recruiting.
The Aggies joining the SEC should really hurt Oklahoma's recruiting efforts in Texas. The Aggies, LSU, and Arkansas are going to take a lot of futre recruits away from the Sooners.
LSU should get
