but I get a Hunger Games vibe from that image in the OP .
People are going to say "Hunger Games" and "Harry Potter" when this starts getting advertised.

Honestly, I just don't see Hollywood making this movie without trying to appeal to the sensibilities of Hunger Games fans.

Holy crap, when was the last time you read this?
I've read my copy so many times though that the cover is falling off and the last few chapters fell out.
Yea, I just took a photo of it. So what?

Never read the books & don't know anything about this movie...but I get a Hunger Games vibe from that image in the OP
You take that back, or so help me.....

. Well, that's my observation; the picture gives it that "future dystopian society battle royale" look. I'll get around to reading it one of these days.

BURN IT DOWN!!!!

Well, that's my observation; the picture guves it that "future dystopian society battle royale" look. I'll get around to reading it one of these days.
The basic story is that Earth has faced these alien creatures they call "buggers," basically an evolved form of an insect. Two wars have been fought and twice we barely escaped destruction. The book is the story about Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, a child bred to be a genius in the hopes that he can be trained to lead humanity in its final war against the aliens.
That is extremely basic. I can't go into much depth without doing spoilers.

I have to say...exactly as I pictured it. The Battle School at least. I know Ender in the pic is too old, but you want a good actor for live action.
Agreed. I was about to bitch about Ender being too old, but oh well, I'll simply take the film rather than the book.

I don't see any reason why the shouldn't. Seems like both fanbases can like this material equally.

I remember reading this book in grade school, hope they do it justice.

I don't know, I don't know, and Ender better kill a fool.
Let's just hope they're not naked and in a bathroom.
I remember discovering Ender's Game at Mitchell Memorial Library on MSU's campus. I just saw a copying lying around and picked it up and started reading.

Oh yeah...that's Harrison Ford.

Not sure though. Its a new scene since there isn't a moment in the book where Graff confronts Ender in the barracks. The only "adult" who enters the launchies' barracks is Dap.
Either they increased Ford's role because of being Ford (Graff is way too behind the scenes for that kind of named actor), or they moved the shuttle scene to when they first go to the barracks.
The latter would make sense budget wise as its one fewer null-G scene they would have to do.

I figured the best way to handle Graff in the movie would be have him as a narrator of sorts that way he can explain the progression of Ender that we are seeing.

Card stated that "very few" of the film's scenes had appeared in the novel, but that he was comfortable with the liberties being taken with the source material. "My book was already alive in the mind of every reader. This is writer-director Gavin Hood's movie, so they were his words, and it was his scene."

Some of those kids are damn tall, and old
A lot are concerned about this but at the same time if you can ensure quality acting by having them 2-3 years too old I'm fine with it.

Imma have to reread the books over christmas break.

Exactly. I'll take them being a bit older for better acting, and hopefully a darker tone in the movie.

Good book. These kids are too old.
