According to insiders in Tuscaloosa and in Auburn, Kirby Smart is no longer in the running for the job. The hang up was over Pat Dye's roll in the program. Smart wanted what Saban has in T-Town - total control. They wouldn't give it to him.

That is bullshite.

1. Dye doesn't run or control jackshit. Gumps that think this are retarded.

2. Pat Dye Jr is Smart's agent

3. Pat Dye is Smart's #1 supporter and fan

If ANYTHING Dye is one of the reason's Smart got interviewed to begin with.

Good. For one, it takes Saban's right hand man and put him in the belly of their biggest rival. He will be a thorn in Nick's arse because he can recruit. The SEC West has the potential to look like an NFL division.

I'm talking about Sunseri. Dude's defense was possibly one of the worst defenses I've ever seen an SEC team put out there.

Auburn will have to go through the growing pains of switching to the 3-4 in addition to competing for the limited amount of recruits (NG in particular) available for that defense. There's a reason even Bama has had to go JUCO a few times for that position.

This is just what BOL is saying. Smart doesn't like Pat Dye. And PM has come out and said that Smart is out of the running. You can disagree and debate the reason why, but both are saying that Smart is staying put for now.

It is really funny how gumps still live in fear of Pat Dye.

They really think he is like an overlord or something and blame him when we are beating their arse and point to him when something goes wrong at AU.

He really fricked them in the head, and 20 years later, they still haven't recovered. It's pretty funny really.

First mistake

PM has changed his mind on this search like 15 times this week, nobody knows anything.

Under no circumstance should Auburn be hiring an assistant, they should be hiring a proven head coach, like Tennessee they can't afford not to.

No fricking wonder. Biggest group of retards on the planet when it comes to anything AU related.

Yeah, that is why he hired Pat Dye Jr as his agent.

What a bunch of idiots.

that's exactly what I was doing... he may not be coming to Auburn, but the reasoning doesn't make sense. It sounds like pandering to the audience (which camgate proved BOL and like would NEVER do that... ).

Listening to bol is the equivalent of listening to the Auburn boards about Bama, complete BS.

What would Auburn fans think of this hire?

In my opinion, it wouldn't be a good hire. I mean it wouldn't be terrible move but it seems like they could do better

Gus is a flop hire. Maybe even worse than Chizik. If that goes down Auburn becomes very MSU-like with a bigger stadium.
