CRAZY: Northern Illinois will have to buy more Orange Bowl tickets (17,500) than what they avg'd per game this season (15,670)

their losses will likely be in the 7-figures

Virginia Tech lost $400-500k when they played Stanford 2 years ago. Clemson lost $100-200k last year. At least that is what they reported.

MAC Teams in bowls:
Toldeo, Potato Bowl, $325,000
CMU, Little Ceasers, $750,000
Kent State, GoDaddy, $750,000
NIU, Orange, $17,000,000

So if you take the total, and divide by 13(12 MAC teams + conf), each team would get 1.44 million. I don't see how NIU's expenses will be greater than that

When UConn got invited to the Fiesta Bowl, they had such a hard time getting their fans to by tickets that the A.D. looked into having another team take their spot and Randy Edsell was doing commercials begging fans to make the trip.

Is it stupid to suggest that the revenue-sharing ought be reformed so that teams cover their expenses from the payout? i.e. make it a profit-sharing system and not revenue-sharing

UCONN lost money on Fiesta Bowl vs Oklahomos, now you get paid a lot too so I don;t know that they lost a "shitload" but they definitely lost more than a little. This mandatory ticket buy just another part of the crooked corruption that is this ridiculous BCS. Read death to the BCS, the same crooked system is in place even with this new limited playoff. If people want a reason to boycott bowl games it isn't the performance of our great Tiger team as unlike our retarded fans I plan on going provided I generate enough income to finish paying the IRS for last year. However this system of payoffs and extortion is a reason.

confernce is stepping up.

However, the MAC will help NIU out with its ticket and hotel obligations. The conference will pay for NIU’s allotment of 17,500 tickets, but also will take back potential revenue from ticket sales.
