No Staff Changes

With all the focus on CLM's character and/or lack of same, apparently the ranters have missed his comments bout there being no anticipated changes in his coaching staff. But he did go out of his way to promote The Chief for the HC position at UT. The question of raises for his staff did come up at the PC but he pretty much danced all round that answer as only he can.

if I remember correctly he has never anticipated changes to his staff.
there really shouldn't be either. 95% of his staff is fine just the way it is.

yea I think all the staff got a nice pay raise last year.

Even if he was planning on changing something he wouldn't come out and say it. Miles has always been classy with his coaching changes and finds them somewhere else to go before he does anything. He isn't going to get rid of Stud.... The worst that could happen to him is being moved back to coaching O-line exclusively and another coach relocating to make room for a coordinator. Very unlikely in any sense though.

are any other 10 or 11 win teams making staff changes?

Ever good program out there is trying to improve thier staff continuously.
Those who rank in the bottom half of the NCAA in either offense or defense know that they must make significant changes if they want to be champions.
How do we compare by those standards?

No....... But you have to plan ahead. I was thinking before this pay raise and extension, Go after Petrino for O.C./H.C. in waiting. Then hire a young up and comer (that Petrino can mold) as the Qb coach. LSU could have the best of both worlds, a strong recruiter and a great X's and O's coach plus have someone being groomed when the elder statesmen step aside. Same thing needs to happen on the defensive side, then hit repeat when everybody moves upward. Just aas the well-spring of talent keeps flowing on the field needs to happen in the coach's box too, Then LSU won't have to be overly concerned about some one coming after Miles.

The "head coach in waiting" concept was one of the dumbest ideas ever devised. It creates nothing but conflict and frustration for the person in the position. Muschamp at Texas. Holgerson at WVU. Etc. Its only semi-valid function is to increase the pressure on an aging head coach to move on into retirement. And that, too, is more a source of friction than of providing orderly transition.

70's in offense top 5 in defense, winning 10 games a year atleast, Yes let's change..

Don't want Petrino in any capacity.
Let him go to Auburn where the classless compete.

Miles is a man and takes responsibility for his team, never blaming his staff. That's what real men do. He handles staff changes privately, preserving the dignity of all involved. I respect that.

You don't seriously think Petrino is going to wait 7 years as head coach in waiting, right?
quality first post

You can call it what you will, the point is many of you are critical about Les NOT being aggressive enough in making a change, Some can't seem to make up their mind whether he should stay or go, Egos aside, they could pull it off if they truly want work toward the ultimate goal in their profession( WIN IT ALL) I wouldn't care if you called it insurance coach.

Now that's some funny crap right there, I don't care who you are!!

Only person on this staff that currently needs to go is Ensminger. Would be nice to have another position coach(possibly o-line) and a recruiter.

tonydtiger, enlighten me since that seems so amusing to you; Thats the problem with this fan base, can't think outside the box. Because it didn't happen for Texas doesn't mean it can't happen. It's better than the FIRE LES MILES threads many have thrown around on here.

No, but an offense that looks rutterless at times and consistently ranks in the 90s or above should hire an offensive coordinator.

Very strong third post. The future of the Rant appears strong...
