Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has promoted Jonathan Dwyer to the starting running back position for Sunday’s game at Baltimore, and demoted Rashard Mendenhall — who has started every game he’s played for the last three years — to No. 3.

DeSean Jackson, the wide receiver who guaranteed a Super Bowl when he signed a new five-year contract in March, will miss the rest of this season with fractured ribs, coach Andy Reid announced today. Jackson leads the team with 45 catches for 700 yards, so his loss will be yet another blow to an offense that continues to struggle.

Running back Kendall Hunter is out for the season with an ankle injury, according to Mike Garafolo of USA Today. Hunter joins receiver Kyle Williams as key offensive cogs who were lost for the year in Sunday’s win over the Saints.

I thought drafting Mendenhall would pay off...it didn't.
