Maybe if we scheduled better OOC opponents and proved that we are legitimately better than the top of the Big-12 or the Pac-12 then we'd have better options, but we scheduled a mid-level Pac-12 team, and a bunch of cupcakes.
People like you disgust me.
The top 6 SEC teams have 9 losses, all to one of those teams. They all are in the top 10 of the BCS. The weakest schedules in that conference of those 6 teams are playing on Saturday to see who plays for the NC.
We were 1 first down from playing in that game.
And your dumbass wants more on their plate. You really don't have an effin clue, buddy. This team was playing for a berth in the SECCG, not jockeying for Cotton vs Cap One.
Next year, to win our division, we have to cross over with Georgia and Florida, while Bama gets Kentucky and Tennessee. We start with a mid to upper mid Big XII, and also include a possible BCS berthed Kent St.
Not good enough for the likes of you, however.
LSU has every right to be disappointed with their bowl fate this year, but based on the performance of the team and staff since the Alabama loss, they're probably going to fall right where they belong.

They don't take the Big East spot, that champ is an auto-qualifier. They would be an auto-at-large, leaving only one other at-large!

To clarify for the uninformed in here:
1. All BCS conference champions have a protected bid to the BCS. They cannot be unseated by anyone else and they must be selected at some point.
2. The highest-rated non-BCS-conference champ in the top 16 gets a similarly-protected at large bid if they're ranked higher than at least 1 BCS conference champion.
Both of these are the case, with the six champs and Kent State, assuming they win the MAC championship this weekend (as the OP explained). That leaves 3 bids. Notre Dame is #1 so there's one bid, Florida and Oregon are both going as 1-loss teams for the other 2.
Oklahoma is not going to the BCS. Thus, they could be picked by the Cotton.
However, the Cotton Bowl will almost certainly put together Texas A&M and Texas. There's nothing especially compelling about TAMU-Big 10. That doesn't mean they won't be selected, but it does mean that they're certainly no lock to be picked for the Cap One Bowl. Meanwhile, the two Big 10 candidates for the Cap One Bowl (Michigan and Nebraska) both have minor appeal as a matchup with LSU. LSU is also known to travel really well to the Cap One Bowl, where TAMU, though known to travel well, isn't known to travel well to the Cap One Bowl (they haven't been; they're an unknown). I'd think Cap One bid goes to LSU and that the Cotton Bowl is able to put together Texas-TAMU.

Just checking in to (again) admit I was wrong. Rutgers will get an AQ.

In your scenario where does OU end up?
Posted on 11/26/12 at 9:13 pm to lsutothetop
OK, if I follow your reasoning, where does that put Oklahoma?
I can see Cap One feeling like they owe LSU one, after that debacle the last time. And, I'm sure the Cotton Bowl knows that LSU is opening the season there, as they already have done in 2010.
But, I wouldn't doubt for a second that Johnny Football overrides everything else, and I think Cap One gets first choice over Cotton, right?

You are underselling LSU which has become one of the top brands in college football.

but this does depend on K-state beating Texas....

Since you put so much thought into this, I'm still wondering what you think about Oklahoma's bowl destination?
Posted on 11/26/12 at 9:53 pm to vl100butch
If K. State beats Texas, they would more than likely go to the Fiesta, right?
I think OU has played all their games, so wouldn't they go to the Sugar? Two teams from the Big 12 in their 2 BCS bowls?
I'm thinking too much about it and I think I confused myself.

OU still plays TCU this weekend. Big 12 only has one auto bid to the champ (K State if they win). OU needs for Kent State to lose their championship game or finish 17 or higher in the BCS, then OU could get the remaining at-large bid.

OP is suggesting OU can't get an at large spot to the Sugar, because Kent State, Florida, Oregon (and ND, since they are independent) take all the at large spots.
NCG: ND vs SEC champ
Rose: B1G vs PAC
Fiesta: Big12 vs at large (Oregon)
Orange: ACC vs Big East
Sugar: SEC surrogate (Fla) vs at large (Kent State)
I was wrong earlier in this thread though, so I don't wanna put words in the OP's mouth...

Ah, that's where I was wrong. I thought they always ended with the Bedlam game.

Got it now.
TriumphTiger, you were right. I was wrong with my info.

Undoubtedly they're on the top of anyone else's list except the Cotton Bowl; I think the Cotton Bowl would rather Texas/TAMU but otherwise OU is the best of what's available in the Big XII bowl-wise. So OU should go to the Alamo Bowl, which would pit them against a non-BCS-bowl-bound Pac-12 team (my guess would be UCLA or Oregon State, more likely OSU).
ETA: I'm not sure that Manziel overrides everything else, either. Cap One picks before Cotton, and could certainly rain on the parade by taking TAMU first, in which case the OP's scenario would play out (Oklahoma would be preferable over Texas in any scenario not involving TAMU) with LSU/OU in the Cotton Bowl. I'm just thinking that Cap One picks LSU first - no particular reason, just an intuitive feeling, so feel free to dismiss if you've got a more compelling reason to do so

Not a far fetched prospect, really. OU fans seem to detest LSU and SEC in general. LSU travels well and fills hotels and restaurants, whereas Ags are all over DFW. Remember the Cotton Bowl from two years back? I do. I was there. Easily 65% were Tigers. Bowl officials remember that.

Money may change hands to avoid Texas - Texas A&M. Texas stated they did not see playing A&M in the foreseeable future after they left the Big 12. I guess we'll finally see if they mean it since the Cotton Bowl is in Texas where all the Texas politicians live.

Texas should lose this weekend anyway. Send them to the Alamo Bowl or Sun Bowl or Bluebonnet Bowl. That's about all this team deserves.

everyone is forgetting one thing. There has been an impetus(by the SEC) lately to not let the loser of the SECCG fall to the chicken bowl. It may come down to who wins the conference.
