I wrote that for you. I get pics of deer during the day and night leading up to dog season starting. The correlation of all night pictures and dog season is quite remarkable.
I'd say before dog season I get 40% day and 60% night pics. After dog season I 'd say 5% day and 95% night pics. I also get a lot of pictures of dogs...

Agree Monticello, it gets really old listening to the same excuses..did have two young guys apologize to me on Thanksgiving day and we didn't report them.

Your issue isn't with dog hunters but with trespassers who happen to hunt using dogs. If these guys were coming on your property and shooting deer with bows would you want to outlaw archery? If they were cutting your timber would you want to outlaw fireplaces?
Ridiculous argument. I don't have a problem with trespassing bow hunters. If I did, the law is on my side and the trespasser can be arrested. I have a huge problem with trespassing dogs, but the law gives me very few legal ways of dealing with the problem.

I don't care if anybody hunts with dogs. All power to you. However, I do kill every dog that runs deer through my woods. So I dont have much of a problem with it. My final stand on the issue

On our property we notice no chance in day/night picture during dog season.
However, we only run dogs two days a week, only turn loose 4-6 dogs per hunt (with anywhere between 6 and 30 people hunting), hunt till noon, and then spend the rest of the day catching dogs if we don't bring them all out the woods with us, which we do quite often.
Moral of the story, there are groups who still enjoy hunting with dogs while doing it in a very responsible manner that has noticeable effect on deer behavior.

I don't understand how you sleep at night.
Seriously.
In one thread there are people jumping down my neck for not taking my dog to the vet for an abscess, in another there are people who blast dogs like they are inanimate.
All hunting drama aside, there's no way I could just blast dogs like that.

Do you shoot coyotes ? Or other animals that are nuisance?

True. But the vast majority of dog hunters really have ruined it for you and dog hunters in general have ruined it for themselves for banding together as one and fighting any possible regulation that might stop the 90% who don't have enough land to dog hunt without trespassing.

Well these guys hunt 7 days a week and turn loose a pack 12+ strong.
They never catch all their dogs. I get pics of dogs at night, and about February I start getting pics of skinny, poor health dogs just withering away. But hey, they have 25 more behind the house in the pen... it ain't no big deal.

Yep.
A dog which is not wild is not a nuisance to me though.

That's because you aren't sitting in a deer stand trying to kill a deer
Posted on 11/26/12 at 8:44 pm to drakeT1217
No shite, last week there were 2 house cats eating a pile of my rice bran. A doe was off in the woods blowing at them and wouldn't come out while they were there.
Should I shoot Toonces for trespassing?

So how do you suggest we stop dog hunters from trespassing on our land? You don't want to ban it and you don't think we should kill trespassing dogs.

To my knowledge the only legislation that is ever brought up is complete bans of dog hunting for a given area.

The same way everybody else stops every other kind of trespasser from trespassing on their land. Confront them, then start calling the law on them.

Ohhh quite the contrary. I intentionally have them running through my woods while I'm trying to hunt.

I grew up running dogs and loved it. Used to defend it. Fact is deer hounds get out of the race or just run the race across the country. Every drive had at least one dog that would get off the reservation. The majority of people running dogs are outlaws and disrespectful to other hunters rights and traditions, yet think theirs should be untouchable. I don't spend time defending them anymore and tend to lean towards the " frick them" point of view.

If I knew it wouldn't get it outlawed for me I'd feel the same way, but I'm covering my own arse.
