Good post but it was lsu's senior day last week and last game of season yesterday as well. Also All teams have injuries at this time of season. And while I will aagree arky had nothing but pride to play for, lsu had a lot more but sure as hell didn't show it.

Great Post!
I think that's why the Bama loss didn't hurt as bad as this team, considering the player losses and the way they competed.
Sometimes it is just the breaks.

Wall of text right there. I printed it out for use as wall paper. Did not read by the way. Cheers!

Thanks and great post. I enjoyed reading your thoughts. Don't let the simpletons that rule this place and mock you with "cliff notes please" and "too long" knock you down. They have the attention span of a gnat and half of their 10,000 posts are of a dancing banana.

Agree completely. Oversimplified: I love LSU football because I grew up with it - and what I grew up with were the Mac, Stovall and Arnsparger squads that were good - sometimes very good - but not great.

That doesn't mean I don't want the team to be great now - I just don't want to lose why Tiger football is important to me. I absolutely do not want to become a Miami, FSU or Florida fan base that values winning above all else. Add Bama to that list as well, but with a they have a history of winning caveat.

I love when we're great and accept - and still love - the product on the field and the team when we're not.

The same message can be posted for 40 teams in the NCAA. While growing up with LSU football all I heard was "only in Louisiana can you find politics in football,"only in La. does Football news show up on the front page of the newspaper.I could go on and on about what people thought only happens here. But traveling for Tiger games, reading other papers and meeting all those fans proved most of that false.

That's the problem with LSU fans. They aim too low because we used to suck, or because we won a championship recently. This team this year should have won every game. Who knows what we will have next year compared to the rest of the country.

Nice post - and I agree wholeheartedly. I am proud of this team and all they been thru this year and last year. College football is cyclical and what we have right now is not going to last forever.

Other teams have definitely picked up on our tendencies and understand our battle plan. The smart thing for Les to do is to bring in a new OC. New blood with new ideas is not a bad thing. I think it will happen.

I didn't think we would go undefeated last year, but going into each game last year I thought we should win and during each game last year I thought we were better than each team we faced. With the putrid O-line we have this year, I didn't believe we were the best team going into each game.

Good post...I think it all gets back to sky high expectations. We as fans have forgotten the Curley Hallman years, or when Dinardo had the fan base jumping because we made the Independence Bowl. I do feel we have played down to level of who we play, but I may feel that way during the game, afterwards, I am like, wow, another win! For the 1st time in the history of LSU football, we truly are recognized as a consistent Top 5 team, winning 10 games a year. This truly is the Golden Years of LSU football- everyone needs to enjoy the ride- this is as good as it gets! We are spoiled by our success, but really, next to Bama, and face it, they got lucky to get in last year and possibly this year, is there a better consistent winning program than LSU right now, year to year?

Thanks everybody for all of your thoughts. Steamrolling or squeaking by, I'm so proud to be an LSU fan and respect the opposition no matter who it is.

I can tell you one team that wants a piece of LSU after it heals up. The Peach Bowl committee.

Even though many fans won't even be able to understand this statement, it may be the best description and advice of and for our fan base. They've simply lost their p&g pride in a crimson-crazed anger. Are we more for LSU or against Alabama? Our fan base would do well to make that assessment.
Very well put.
