So Hank, Hank Jr, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, George Jones, and Lefty were not as good as George Straight and Garth Brooks?
Not in my book.
I know those guys were really popular and alot of people think they it's cool to claim to be fans of them but my tastes have changed. I just don't care for that outlaw stuff much anymore.

The 80's did have some good artists. George Strait & Alan Jackson were two of the top, but there were many others. Garth Brooks started off strong in country, but sold out and went too pop.
Here's some of the best:
The cream of the crop for pure solid gold country of the 80's was Keith Whitley
Randy Travis
Vern Gosdin
Don Williams
Gene Watson
