~ this is all taken from SA. They are good and posting and I am not ~
It’s the game you’ve been waiting to play your entire life. It’s the game you imagined but never thought would be possible: A tight, brutal first-person shooter throwing thousands of players into endless battle across whole continents. A completely free MMO with the highest production values of any game in its genre, ever. Incredibly deep RPG-style customization, with hundreds of class-redefining gear options, abilities, weapon and vehicle upgrades for almost any role you can imagine: the fighter pilot, the dropship jockey, the treadhead, the stealth hunter-killer, the heavy infantry slayer, the commander leading hundreds or a single tight-knit platoon, and on and on. Just over a month into beta, most of the guns, vehicle enhancements, and wargear are still to be unlocked (yet more are added every patch); still the game is so good it’s become hard for many goons to stomach playing anything else.
I've seen tank columns blitz across rolling dunes to outflank the enemy, deploy into siege mode, and slaughter hundreds of infantry with massed artillery; mech troopers burn and blast paths of carnage with flamethrowers, chainguns, and mega-shotguns through mile-high domed artificial jungles; jetpack teams hunt hapless snipers along the craggy ravines beneath the Crown; hundreds fight to a standstill in meatgrinder base sieges until a skilled platoon turns the tide.
I've also seen 10-odd coordinated goons from these very forums hold surrounded outpost compounds deep in hostile territory against entire outfits, despite all the bombers, dropships, armor, and troops at the enemy’s disposal.
The head developer is a fricking goon, and his team has implemented every good balance idea put forward so far; here’s a video of Higby explaining the game.
I can say without reservation that this is the best game I’ve ever played, and it’s only in beta.
Planetside 2 will feature an ingame cash shop where you can buy cosmetic items, shortcuts (like experience boosters and extra resources) as well as sidegrades for your weapons. You will not pay to win. You will pay to make your gunship look like a flying frickin pimp wagon.

Holy shite this game was fun.
I went with a us east Vanu empire. THe pop was basically even. I spawned into about 50 people on our side all asaulting a base.
I cant believe I just had that experince without paying a dime!!!

I had a good time with it last night. Probably stayed up a little too late with it. Me second or third spawn had me with about 100 other people storming across a bridge with tanks and air support to take a base. Once on the other side the foot soldiers flanked through the rocks while the tanks went up the road. Pretty legit experience.

This game is so epic.
No other FPS comes even remotely close.

This topic should be on the 1st page, and noticed by more people. Though, some of the servers are getting full.
If you have a PC built in the last year, give this game a try.

this is one of the games that has me contemplating investing in a gaming pc. how much of a rig am I looking at to play this game... $1200? from what I've read it takes a pretty big system.

Had this discussion earlier on another forum.
Built a PC back in August for a little less than $1000 (now the parts look to be less than $800).
I bought an i5-3570K Intel CPU ($219)
8 GB of DDR3-1600 RAM ($40)
a GB AMD Radeon HD 7850 vid card ($190)
and an SSD "Drive" to install it on. I only went with a 64 GB drive, enough for windows and this game with about 10 GB left. ($66)
The rest of the money went towards motherboard, case, power supply and other little bits.
Runs everything on High in something like 1600x1200 resolution, well above 30 fps pretty much non stop. I've not had any noticeable frame drops. It's usually closer to 60 fps.

Go here to look up parts or prices. It's what I used.
Graphic Card requirements
SOE's list of all known Vid Cards, color coded for what meets, doesn't meet,or exceeds the games requirements.

2 short vid captures I made back in September (earlier in beta) with FRAPs, as an example of how it ran on my system. (these remind me of how much I love the sound effects in the game)
At the time, the game had a Youtube saver, but the quality was arse at the time.

I play TR on Waterson
It's pretty fun, although there are huge swings in who is winning and who's getting annihilated. One second you have 80% of the map and in the next 20 minutes you have hardly any
Plus guns feel a little weak. It takes about 12-15 shots to kill someone (at least for heavy assault)
Cert acquirement feels a little slow. Some of the weapons cost 1000 certs... a bit ridiculous imo

The idea is to keep you playing the game, and hopefully buying Station Cash, for 2 to 3 years.
I personally think this game is EPIC.
There is no other FPS that comes even close to this experience.

Yes this game is mind blowing fun. rolling lastnight with the Goons on NC Mattherson. 15 tanks and looking at a couple sundies as well, pan up and see multiple gals and reavers all in one big wave hauling arse to the next base to eff up some vanu and TR.
I am SERIOUSLY considering subbing to this game to get the bonus exp and station cash. I have only dropped 10bux so far.
I am going to main an engineer i think. I love dropping ammo, repairing stuffs and dropping a turrent and unloading on fools.
I also Certed the Sundy so that it can deploy and be spawn point.
I am looking for recommendations for weapons to unlock on the sundy besides the basic. i am thinking the grenade launcher for infrantry and something for Armor.
What are you guys investing your cert points in ?

The mortar (Bulldog maybe?) was pretty bad arse the last time I saw it near the end of the beta. Could lock down the door to a spawn room as easily as a tank.

We're NC all the way.
If the piston shotgun you are talking about is the Jackhammer, definitely test it out before you buy it. I had it in beta and it sucked balls. The Mauler was much better. I'm not familiar with all of the names though, so I may not be thinking about the same thing.

How does the trial thing work?
Do you just choose to try as trial and then it shows up in your class config screen ?
I spent 250 station cash on a engi rifle and the only difference between that and the standard issue is that it is a 2round burst..Which I guess is goof for NC sence our Recoil is fricked.
