A pollster or computer rankings really can't diminish what you've accomplished. I can tell you this: The ring will still be as big. Now, we may not have that crystal ball down there, but we'll have a lot of signage.
” -- Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly

"I would tell our players that everything that was within their control, they handled and that they're champions because of it. A pollster or computer rankings really can't diminish what you've accomplished," Kelly said Wednesday in an interview with The Associated Press. "I can tell you this: The ring will still be as big. Now, we may not have that crystal ball down there, but we'll have a lot of signage."

They have won all the games so far..

What's the big deal? I don't see anything wrong with what he said, and I can't stand em.

Of course this was a reply to a question about how would feel IF they went undefeated and got left out ...

I don't think that will happen anyway BUT don't let the facts get in a way of a good story

He's their coach, so of course I would expect him to stick up for his team. With that said, anyone who's watched ND this year can see that they aren't one of the 3 best teams. Scraping by BYU and going to OT against Pitt is just bad.

Yeah, he really mouthed off there!!!

Give me a break. I'm sure they understand they need to win all of their games.

Nothing in the OP post can even be remotely construed as controversial.

We are all dumber for having read your attempt to make something out of nothing simply because it's Notre Dame and your team isn't.

May god have mercy on your soul.

The only problem I have with what he said is they still have to play USC at USC. How many times have we seen teams start politicing only to screw up towards the very end.

And if I almost lost to Pitt at home, and beat Stanford with some BS, with probably the hardest game on my schedule yet to play, I'd keep my mouth shut.

A couple of points.

First, if ND was dominating teams, they would have a very good chance of beating out KState and/or Oregon for a BCSCG spot. The fact is, they have have had some pretty ugly performances relatively speaking. So it's not just the "computers and pollsters" fault, people can see that ND hasn't really played at the same level as Oregon and KState thus far.

Second, why would a coach even go there when there are still games left to be played? Answering hypotheticals that assume you win the rest of your games are things fans do. Coaches say GTFO with that question - we have to play Wake Forest this weekend and if get by that we have to play USC next week.
