Splain this cause I'm not understanding.
Does one of the top four spots go to the best of the third world conferences, or are they just guaranteed a spot in one of the fancy bowls?
And what if none of them are ranked? Do they still get a spot?

Perception and stigma of Oregon State being lowly regardless of their record.

USC had 62 1st place votes in week 4...lost to Oregon State by 6 points on the road and fell from #1 to #9. Florida lost to Ole Miss and fell from #3 to #12. USC never recovered and kept getting leapfrogged...rising only as high as #5 in the polls while Florida rose to #2...and then beat #1 Bama in the SEC Championship game and rose to #1 for the Final BCS.

After the bowls, USC finished #2 in the final coaches poll.

Thanks.

But the pollsters/BCS are sure biased for USC.

Nice sarcasm. Every year USC choked, they were left out, even if they had the same record as either or both of the two teams who were "elected" to play in the BCSNCG. They're used to receiving the short side of the stick.

Champions Bowl fits in where? Is it just a new name/substitute for the Sugar? If so, why re-name the same bowl?? It was announced recently it is in N.O. So...what is the difference?

Champions Bowl was just a placeholder until they figured out where it was going to be. It's still the Sugar Bowl.

Just guaranteed one spot

I think the same damn problems everyone has with the BCS will not change with this format either. It needs to be an 8 team or 16 team playoff not 4.I think its stupid and solves nothing!!

Hitchhiker: You heard of this thing, the 8-Minute Abs?
Ted: Yeah, sure, 8-Minute Abs. Yeah, the excercise video.
Hitchhiker: Yeah, this is going to blow that right out of the water. Listen to this: 7... Minute... Abs.
Ted: Right. Yes. OK, all right. I see where you're going.
Hitchhiker: Think about it. You walk into a video store, you see 8-Minute Abs sittin' there, there's 7-Minute Abs right beside it. Which one are you gonna pick, man?
Ted: I would go for the 7.
Hitchhiker: Bingo, man, bingo. 7-Minute Abs. And we guarantee just as good a workout as the 8-minute folk.
Ted: You guarantee it? That's - how do you do that?
Hitchhiker: If you're not happy with the first 7 minutes, we're gonna send you the extra minute free. You see? That's it. That's our motto. That's where we're comin' from. That's from "A" to "B".
Ted: That's right. That's - that's good. That's good. Unless, of course, somebody comes up with 6-Minute Abs. Then you're in trouble, huh?
[Hitchhiker convulses]
Hitchhiker: No! No, no, not 6! I said 7. Nobody's comin' up with 6. Who works out in 6 minutes? You won't even get your heart goin, not even a mouse on a wheel.
Ted: That - good point.
Hitchhiker: 7's the key number here. Think about it. 7-Elevens. 7 dwarves. 7, man, that's the number. 7 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know that old children's tale from the sea. It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby. Step into my office.
Ted: Why?
Hitchhiker: 'Cause you're frickin' fired!

It can't be...the logistics and the "filling up" the BIG stadium for more games is unlikely from some schools, it would lose its effect.

not like BBall where the arenas are 12,000
if you are no. 5 looking in,.. play harder.
It is seldom that at the end of the season there is much discussion as to the best 4 teams..usually it involves 3 teams where the 3rd team feel like they belong.

I use to think like you until a friend of mine (a school Pres. ) pointed that out
