not the full story, but even if it was, it's better than what the hornets otherwise would have gotten...

While I do remember confusion as to whether or not Gordon was included in the deal, from what I remember the deal "fell apart" not over no Gordon but over no Bledsoe as a 5th asset in the deal.
I could definitely be wrong, but I thought the Clippers were trying to offer us Bledsoe, but we wanted Gordon, which is why we didn't take their deal at first. I know the Clipps assured Gordon he wouldn't be traded as well, but obviously that didn't mean anything.

all I know is when the Suns offered the Max to Gordon, Demps had to match it. We could no longer sign and trade him at that point. Our choice was sign him or let him go.
False.

My question is if Loomis and Demps will be able to hold onto Monty. Monty is on track if EG comes back productive to make it to the postseason. He produces alot with what he gets. The best young coach in the league IMO. Whos to say he wont be offered a big time job after this season.

The comparison isn't Paul for Aminu etc.
The comparison is the cap space from him walking and what we got in the trade.
You compare the products you can get for the currency, not the asset and the currency. The latter are all set by the market. What you care about is set by your utility curve.
Basic economics.

Yeah i was thinking that coaches could get out of contracts unlike players, guess im on that hisheesh.

Options exist for these contracts. I highly doubt this extension has an option in the first year, however.

That was certainly one of the rumors we heard in real time, but in a post trade article Olshey said he had approval to offer only 4 assets, which included Gordon. I can't find the article to see exactly how it was worded but from what I remember he made it sound like the Hornets came back and got the deal that had been on the table the whole time.

Looks like they're working well together. I wont get excited about it until Demps gets his extension though

Re: L'affaire Gordon Bleu
I am still unsure how they got to the point where Monty is calling Gordon out for not playing and we were/are seriously discussing Gordon asking for a trade 5 months after signing a max deal.
Wasn't Gordon insistent that the Hornets kept their distance throughout his RFA tour? Whether true or not, shouldn't Dell have been doing everything in his power to massage his ego if they were always going to match? It is just all very odd and doesn't look good for Gordon or the organization

I think it is pretty obvious that Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton work extremely well together. If he can build that level of trust with Monty Williams, everything should be fine. And, it appears that with Monty knowing a good bit more about basketball than him, he's going to lean heavily on Monty in making any decisions. He's just the bean counter that'll hopefully keep the Hornets from making an awful deal.
