Why Gus Malzahn Will Be The Next Arkansas Head Coach

It has almost became a no-brainer. The Arkansas job is "cousin Gus'" to turn down.
Here is why >
1) Fandom: Cousin Gus is IMMENSELY popular in northwest and central Arkansas. He guided northwest Arkansas', Springdale High School, to a second place finish in the national high school polls. Northwest Arkansas accounts for about 65% of all ticket sales. About 25% of the rest come from central Arkansas. Bottom line, cousin Gus will fill the Razorback Stadium seats from day one. This has to be AD Jeff Long's first priority from game 1 next season.
2) A Winner at every stop: In his first season as a head coach of an FBS program, he has Arkansas State in sole possession of first place in the Sun Belt Conference. And there are some pretty salty little teams in the Sun Belt this season. Anyone that watched his fast firing offense demolish Louisiana Monroe tonight should be in full agreement. He even took Tulsa to some phenominal seasons.
3) Disciplinarian: Cousin Gus is all about giving a kid a second chance, but he will boot dat @ss if a player doesn't heed the call to straighten up and fly right...Ala Michael Dyer.
4) Ace recruiter: Kids love to play for him. Gus is as real as they come. What you see is what you get. There is no BS that comes with cousin Gus.
5) National Championship ring: Does anyone really think Auburn would have won a national championship without Gus? Not many I bet.
6) Offensive genius: Cousin Gus has published 5 books on offensive strategies. He is the Wizard of Off. Chip Kelly owns multiple copies of cousin Gus' books. While defense may indeed win championships more often that not, Arkansas will never be able to field the 4 and 5 star defensive players to match defenses with Alabama, LSU, Georgia, or Florida. So high powered offense is the key to the kingdom at Arkansas, and cousin Gus is all that and a bag of chips with a 16 oz. bottle of RC Cola to boot. Plus, Arkansan's simply love their offensive game. Auburn won the NC on the strength of their offense, not their defense.
7) Lastly: Cousin Gus is just that in Arkansas, Cousin Gus. He is an Arkansas homeboy. If you check the records, some mighty notable coaches have strong Arkansas ties... Bear Bryant (born and raised), Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer, Tommy Tuberville, Frank Broyles, Butch Davis, Charlie Strong, and the list continues... Not too shabby for a little ole' state of only 3 million people.
8) One last big plus: His buyout at Arkansas State is tiddly winks compared to guys like Patterson and Gundy.

Now how the frick did you come up with that conclusion

sorantable, i can understand why someone from mississippi would not want to see gus at the helm in arkansas. you guys could barely beat john l smith.

Yes. Cam Newton was the reason, not "Cousin Gus".
AU with Gus and not Newton = 8-5

I'm just saying Gus is not this super popular coach among Hog fans like you say he is. I will go to games regardless of the coach.

...i am just one outsiders opinion, but i did take the time to weigh the positives of arkansas hiring gus. i really couldn't find any serious negatives. maybe you know something i don't?
i can't say for sure, but i don't think very many arkansans will be jumping off the bus if gus is hired.
from an outsiders point of view, gus looks like a great fit.

Well then I'll tell you as an insider (I've lived in Little Rock or Fayetteville my whole life) that Gus is not widely popular. I think the majority of Hog fans would be okay with it if he was hired but there is definitely a sizable segment of people that don't care for him.
