Gimme Your Gameplan

You've had two weeks to prepare, whatya got?
Mine: I think DT is the most important position on the field saturday night. If we can command a double team and free up our two top 5 NFL draftees to go one on one, we have a shot.
Offensively, I think you use the same gameplan Bama used on us in the NCG. Easy throws for Mett to begin and get comfortable...5 yards here, 5 yards there, dink and dunk to fullbacks and TE's as well as mixing in the deep shot downfield every now and then to keep the secondary honest...just keep picking up first downs and kick field goals (which isn't ideal obviously).
Then ride your tremendous Defense along with the crowd and let Mr. Chavis go to work. Come on Bennie. Freak. Mingo. Sam. Prove the experts wrong. Win the national championship. F it.

I like your idea, but I also think we need to see something that they would never expect. A little more ware wildcat, and maybe some different plays from it.

Play action and hit the TE going against the run action. Easy to complete and execute. I would run some counters/traps. Pass to the backs out of the backfield. Saban defenses usually have one major weakness and that is the rb releasing around the end up the seam. (good for RZ)
Defensively allow Chavis to do what he does.

Defense
- jam the WRs at the line.....if we play off the receivers 5-7 yards, then Bama will keep getting 5-7 yards on every first down.
- don't hesitate to blitz early in the game and often. We need to rattle McCarron. Hit him as many times as you can.
- no stupid personal fouls
Offense
- shite or get off the pot. Either trust Mett and the offensive line in the passing game or just use Ware at QB. We need to have some 3 and 4 WR sets to spread Bama out. Last year noone thought McCarron could throw and beat us. Bama trusted him in the NCG and it won them the game.
- play some hurry up offense but don't get too cute with it. Saban hates hurry up offenses b/c he can't sub and he can't make changes....that drives the little control freak bonkers.
- Stay committed to the run. We will get behind at some point in this game probably, but don't abandon the run and throw the ball 8 times in a row. If we are going to beat bama we have to run more than we pass, it's just the way it is.
- Don't tighten up playcalling when you get in the redzone. WE can throw the ball without needing a trick play.
This is what I got.

Let Jeremy Hill go to work and let Mett throw off the playaction. Lots and lots of playaction and misdirection.
Defensively, just let Chief do what he does.

Bring the house on McCarron on every play.

Russell Shepard should get 3-6 touches in the Wild Cat formation.
Start Jeremy Hill at tailback and give him the majority of the touches. He is the most complete back and by doing this it will keep the defenses guessing if its a run or pass play. When Ware and Hilliard rotate teams play the run more often.
attempt a fake punt if we're lucky enough to get near midfield.

Win the time of possession in 1st quarter. When LSU runs the football, use motion and shifts to gain a numbers advantage. Passing game, I would steal Alabama's from NC game. Being 100% serious. Spencer Ware has to take at least 5 snaps ( maybe option), Russell Shepard has to be used as ball carrier, decoy or deep threat combined at least 6 times. Keep their defense off balance. To do this, if I'm LSU I come out doing something no one has seen. If it works great, if not, you have the defense thinking on their heels.
Defensively, do what you do.

Bench RS through 3 quarters.
Throw the ball on 1st down for 3 quarters.
In 4th quarter run the I formation with RS and Hill in the backfield and run the option and have RS burn rubber with his fresh legs against BAMA defense.

Offense: Dispense with trying to "survive". Take risks and give up the notion of trying to sheild the QB from interceptions. He's good for at least one per game because he likes to make big plays and he trusts his arm. Do the same. 3-4 wide vertical passing plays, NOT DESIGNED RECEIVER OR SPOT PASSES, at least 10 times. If nothing else this decompressed a defense which is CERTAIN to cram 8 players in the box every play.
Oh, and hit them in the mother fricking chops. This is the best defensive interior in the country? They're going to have to prove it.
Defense: More of the same. Mingo and Sam don't have to worry about a "mobile" QB so they can afford to be more aggressive. Watch TE/RB screens, quick slants and dump passes over the middle. Be aggressive with the receivers. Hit them off the LOS to throw off their timing routes.
Hit McCarron early and often whether he has gotten rid of the ball or not.

This ^^^
LSU needs to find some kind of way to jump ahead early and set the tone. Easier said than done of course. Dig up the NT and Washington playbook. The 0-5 yard passing plays (wr quick throws) need to find their way back into the gameplan. We have completely scrapped them over the last 6 wks. LSU can't hit the HR 5x a game like they tried in A&M, so get it to you wr and let him move with the ball. You can spread the D out of the box E/W just the same as you can spread them out N/S by throwing deep

HIT McCarron, HIT him HARD. Dont give up keep beating him up. he will give us a turnover or 2.
Hard Physical running game, and playaction.... I like what someone said about running some no huddle.--gotta cut Mett's leash and let him go.
Almost forgot the most important part.............score more than they do..... yea that!

Simple...Got to run and trust Mett. With our stable of "backs" I have no problem running often. Obviously can't do that every play. Have some faith in Mett and let him sling it around a bit as well. Take some shots down the middle and deep.
Once again, I think Shepp (unfortunately) is going to be a non factor. Could be wrong, but I don't see why he would become a factor all of a sudden in this game.
