I've had labs most of my life, I had a Heinz 57 that was awesome. But dumb the are not, smell only if you keep them caged in a box. Yes they chew, but name one breed that doesn't at some point? If you're going to have a family hands down lab is the breed. I had one that would guard my son when he first started walking. The Dolly Lama kept watch over him the entire time, when he fell she'd get up walk over grab the back of his Osh Kosh's stand him up and return to her spot. By far the coolest shite I've ever seen I a dog do.
