Perhaps with someone other than Lucas writing, the story could be good and without cringe worthy dialog.
Yes, maybe Disney will use the same crack team that produced the film on the year.....John Carter.
I wouldn't put much stock in ILM working out under Disney's business plan because it loses money and Lucas kept it to get gold colored statues for the showcase in the Presideo. There's always Lucas Singapore in the works where they are looking to produce digital effects on the cheap.

The only actors I could see reprising would be Hamil in a bit part as an older wiser character then probalby dieing at the end of 7, perhaps you use chewy, and the droids

John Carter is hardly comparable to a product like Star Wars. I'm pretty sure Disney will bring their A-team for this one.

There is almost no chance this will be based on existed novel or Lucas property. Disney is going to want to start over with their own writers and productions.
The books are only canon to Lucas and Star Wars fanatics.

Bigger part of this is they arent just buying Lucasfilm. They are buying Lucasarts, Skywalker Sound, and freakin ILM. Disney will now pretty much have the market cornered on digital effects and animation.

Lucas has story treatments already written out as seen in the video. And he will be involved probably an Executive Producer.

Thats unfortunate. I read most of the EU novels. There are some quality scifi stories in there that would play well on the big screen.

$4.05 Billion seemed like a huge price for this, but when you really look at what Disney bought, they may end up coming out way ahead with everything they can do with these assets. Also, I am definitely excited for a new Star Wars after the prequels.

I disagree, the big concepts will be based Lucas ideas developed already...they will hire writers to flesh them out--for the first three. after that I believe it will be katy bar the door

I wouldn't be surprised if they remake the entire franchise after they are done with the sequel trilogy.

This is the biggest news I have heard in awhile. Will they bring back anyone from the original cast? very plausible to set 7, 8 and 9 25 years or so after 4, 5 and 6 just like 1, 2, and 3 were 25 years ahead of the OT.

I was just telling a family member that they should go with completely original ideas and to cut ties with almost every character they can - except for R2D2 and 3pio - and just use the general set-up provided by the previous 6 films. Meaning use the "dna" set-up in the universe - the Force, the fall of the Republic/Rise & Fall of the Empire, the Jedi, etc.
Every sci-fi writer in America and probably around the world is salivating over this idea. Seriously if Disney wanted to, they could hire the 25 best screenwriters they can find, tell them to write the best trilogy they can think of, and then pick the best one. The fact that no one wants to be the a-hole who wrote another disappointing Star Wars trilogy alone will provide motivation. Just think of how much fame you'd have in the motion picture industry to be known as the writer who wrote the continuation of the greatest sci-fi property in film history.
I'm interested to see what this does to the long-gestating live-action television series that Lucas has been stewing on for the past decade. If I get a S.H.I.E.L.D. series and LASW series every week in the next couple of years, I may well die of nerdgasm.

IIRC, the ending of Episode 3 was roughly 18 years before the start of Episode 4.

I'm setting up my plans to go to San Diego Comic-Con in 2014 now.

Even so, it could still be done

Do you consider Andrew Stanton, who directed WALL-E and Finding Nemo, not "A-Team"?
His John Carter bombed so badly it cost a lot of people their jobs....think about it before you start believing Disney has some magic touch in today's realm.
What they have going for them is Episodes 1,2,3 are so fricking bad, what they produce will have to be an improvement.

Star Wars is a unique property. look up the word unique and report back to us

It'll probably take a year or so to write the script,
They have it slated as a trilogy already then they plan to make a movie every two or three years after that. It just makes me nervous.

Marvel is owned by Disney now...and they've done a pretty damn good job.
As long as they learn some lessons from Marvel they will be fine.
Hire an up and coming director (or directors) that has a firm grasp on what needs to happen and a clear vision for the trilogy, someone respected and established but still has energy, and get it done.
