Apparently you misread the whole argument... I'm not arguing the effectiveness of the round on the intended target. I'm questions whether its a good idea to be firing such a round in close quarters in a residential situation

From the start I said it was simply too hot to in that scenario and would pass through perps, and sheet Rock alike. I never said it wouldn't kill someone. Problem is, it might kill my roomate in her bedroom through the walls.

That's why I pointed out the difference in firing it in the Kandahar province vs my living room

Your whole argument is based on penetration which is easily solved with the type of ammo you buy.

When you have your AR loaded for home defense use a hollow point. Problem solved.

Yeah I know most lighter hp basically disintegrate im just saying it could be a concern

I just feel there are better home defense weapons IMO

The guys in Somalia were using the green tipped armor piercing rounds I believe

12 Gauge with 00 Buck comes to mind. Or #1 for that matter.

But a good home defense .223 round in my opinion would be a Hornady Vmax. It is a varmint round designed to penetrate about 6 inches before it completely disintegrates. Imagine how much energy would be transferred into someone's chest cavity with that round. That's an INSANE amount of energy.

My man. My 870 mag stays loaded with buck shot in my house. There is nothing more intimidating than racking an 870, lets 'em know you don't frick around.

Trijicon ACOG scope w/ RMR.

Costs about 2x what that bushmaster costs, but it's sooooo worth it
