Actually you're wrong yet again.

The BCS was established to give teams a chance to play in the postseason that WOULD NOT have been able to play each other in the pre BCS era, like Michigan and Nebraska in 97, which were contractually bound to different bowls and resulted in split titles.

It was designed to ensure that if the two best teams were in conferences that would otherwise not be able to play each other, that they would meet in the BCS.

LSU and Bama played each other. LSU won, and won the right to represent the SEC in the BCS.

The Big 12 champ deserved a shot against the SEC Champ.

Period.

Again, while I liked the matchup for selfish fan reasons so we could shut up the media about 11/5, looking back on it, even if LSU would have won, I'd feel the same way.

Because if we had beaten Bama again, I'd always feel like we would have been questioned because OSU was also undefeated and we ended up playing a 2 loss Bama to win the title.

ESPN then would have bashed the BCS as a busted system because an undefeated team was left out and used THAT as the reason to push their playoff agenda, even though they were the ones who didn't let the GAME ON THE FIELD ON 11/5 DECIDE WHO WAS BEST.

It was a pure push by ESPN to ensure a playoff, which they will make billions off of, and it just so happened that LSU was the victim.

Doesn't excuse how badly we played on 1/9, but it was a total injustice to the 2011 LSU Tigers that we had to play that team again.

This is not the NFL witha playoff, take that weak argument out of here.

Let me know when two teams from the same division of the NFL play in the Super Bowl, and then you can use this argument.

Well in the NFL, that is impossible because of the way the playoff system works

In college football it isn't impossible, because of the way the BCS works.

Let me ask everyone this. If LSU lost the first game would you think that OSU deserved to be in ahead of us?

So in postseason sports teams shouldn't have to play teams that they've already beaten?

So your retort for everything is just going to be some outlandish comment that has nothing to do with the previous post? If it were a playoff, NOBODY would be bitching. Point is, it's not. You can't have a system in place then switch to a playoff when it fits your agenda.

Absolutely. LSU had would have had their shot and lost. You can check my post history, I have always said this.

Well its easy to say that after the fact

But if we had lost that game and Bama beat OSU 45-3 in the NC, we'd all be crying about how we should have been in the game

Bama had a huge phycological edge in intangibles. Just like we will have this year 7:00pm, tiger stadium after being fully rested while they get to play state the week before.

The tables are fully turned. We will NOT lose that game.

No. And I'll tell you why. Bc we would have beaten west Virginia, Oregon, Florida, defending BCS champs in auburn, arky, etc.
While Bama beat arky and LSU. Just because penn state was a big name didn't make the a good team.

Now, if you swap lsu and bama's schedules, Bama wins, then yes it's Bama and osu rightfully.

How else are you supposed to decide who plays? Apparently every one here has a problem with us just speculating that Bama was better. Why not let them settle it on the field?

So because our schedule was more impressive than Bama's, that means that OSU's was more impressive than Bama's too?

Just as it's easy to say Bama deserved to be there after the fact. Hindsight being what it is and all.

But I've always said that, and will always say that. A rematch when there are other at least equally deserving teams is incredibly stupid. It'd be one thing if it had been a rematch against Oregon or WVU, but it was a rematch against a team that did diddly squat in the grand scheme of things during the regular season compared to other teams.

I would have been thrilled, but felt dirty about it.

BUT, LSU getting in over OSU would not have been quite the same as Bama over OSU because unlike Bama, WE HAD A BETTER RESUME.

LSU's had BY FAR the most impressive wins of any team in the country. Oregon, WV, and Arkansas would have been better wins that OSU's, and our loss would have been to the #1 team in the country ON THE ROAD IN OVERTIME, compared to OSU's road loss to ISU.

You're pumping Bama because of OSU's loss to ISU, would you feel LSU was screwed if OSU got in over us?

LSU and Bama had completely different resumes.

I still think looking back I would have wanted to see SEC vs. Big 12, but yeah, if your team is the one that gets the break you take it politely with a smile and don't run your mouth about it afterwards like Bama does.

The system is what it is. I objectively vote Bama #2 as well. It's the problem with a 2-team playoff system. It's the same system that put us #2 in '03/'07 (yes, I know the formula changed after '03).

If the upcoming system were in place, Bama plays Okie St in the semis & we play Stanford. That would've been awesome college football IMO.

The rematch sucked, but the BCS's job is to pick the two best teams. You think Bama wouldn't have donkey stomped Ok. St.'s no defense having asses? Or Stanford's slow as shite team? Or Oregon's gimicky offense?

Bama and LSU were far and away the two best teams at the end of last season.
