Did you know, that LSU has only won once at College Station?

Time to double up.

Yeah, what's deceiving is that we've only played 9 times at College Station.

4 of the losses came during the Dark Times and we stopped playing them soon after because of conference expansion. Very few of our good teams ever went to Kyle Field. Before that, we rarely played them Home and Home.

Wow we should just forfeit.

Wow, I didn't know that.

Actually we ONLY played them "home and home", and almost never played "home and away" with the Aggies.

Nope. Make it 2.

Any data before 2000 is irrelevant and not indicative of the times.

It's called Home and Home because we play at each others home, but whatever.

There are several distinct phases to this series. We played aTm 12 times between 1899 and 1923, a stretch of games they dominated, relatively. The locations varied significantly, with 3 games in BR (pre-Tiger Stadium), 4 games in College Station, then 1 each in New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, Galveston and San Antonio. LSU took 3 games, aTm took 7 and there were 2 ties.
From 1942 to 1956, inclusive, we played 11 times. We had the upper hand during this phase, most games were in Baton Rouge, with only the Orange Bowl in 1943 (a rematch where we avenged a regular season loss) and a September game in Dallas in 1955 being exceptions. LSU won 7 of the 11 games, with all victories coming in Baton Rouge or Miami. The Aggies won the game in Dallas in '55, as well as games in BR in '43, '44 and '56.
Then, beginning in 1960, we played aTm annually in Tiger Stadium through the 1975 season. We dominated the first part of this phase, going 9-0-1 over the first 10 contests. The last 6 saw the Aggies win 3, including handing one of only 2 regular season losses to the 1970 team, as well as winning the last 2 games of this phase in 1974 and 1975.
The decade long, '86 to '95, inclusive, phase, saw the Aggies win 6 out of 10, in what was often the opening game for both teams during the period. This series had the venue alternate between the schools, and on paper, it doesn't look that bad. However, LSU won 4 of the first 5, and the Aggies won the last 5 straight contests, in generally convincing fashion, although the 1992 and 1994 contests in BR were reasonably competitive. The last 3 games LSU had at Kyle Field were during this stretch ('91, '93 and '95) and were pretty bad. The Aggies outscoring LSU 102 to 24 during this stretch. (ETA: LSU's only win @ Kyle Field was during this phase, in 1987, where Archer's 10-1-1 team finished #5, after a loss to Bama and a tie to tOSU).

Yeah, that's just dumb. You may as well call it, "Away and away".
What would you call it if it were two games in a row scheduled at Tiger Stadium?
Don't you think "home and away" just makes more sense?

Yeah, but the commonly accepted term is "home-and-home" to describe a series that alternates between the 2 stadiums. Context is as big a part of language (bigger, in some instances) as literal meaning.

How the hell did we get such a lopsided home-and-home game history with them? 9 games there versus 33 in BR?

How about this? There have been more "neutral site" (Houston, Galveston and San Antonio count for this purpose) games than games in College Station. That will soon change, but another intriguing fact about this series.

We have had similar road records at Tennessee and Georgia until Les rolled around.

A&M was decimated after WW2 due to the draft and such.... We were essentially a "money" game from the late 40s till the early 70s.
When A&M finally rebuilt the school and allowed females in the 60s, the Football program finally came back around in the early-mid 70s.
So essentially, we were a ULL or La Tech for 25 years so we came to BR for the paycheck. When enrollment exploded in the late 70s/early 80s, A&M Football became much better.

It used to be much more prevalent for colleges located in smaller towns to play a lot of games in their state's larger cities. Such as Alabama in Birmingham, and Ole Miss/Miss State in Jackson, for example. I'm sure that explains a lot of that for A&M. It still gives a pretty lopsided edge to games in BR, even considering that factor.

Funny thing is, LSU would regularly do home-and-homes with Rice during that era, but still could insist on playing A&M only in BR.

Damn, that WW2 effect lasted a long time.
