What an end to the episode.
I'm diggin' post jail Eli. Hopefully the ambush fricks things up for Mickey's ignorant arse and allows Eli to move up. I'm slowly gravitating towards that weasely bastards corner.
Some great, great Capone material tonight too. Unfortunately he's started a war. And hopefully we're a step closer to Van Alden rollin' with Dean O'Banion as a result.
Thought it was a damn good episode to not have Harrow in it. Preview for next week looks good too. Nucky best get the gel out cause he's about to get fricked by our boy Gyp.

And somebody needs to make a gif of Capone throwing the money on the bar after he beats that Irish cat to death.

I had an idea nucky was going to kill that kid...but when it happened I still said WTF.
Fantastic episode, best scene was the end with capone playing the yukele or w/e the frick it is to his son

As good as that was, him trying to teach his son to fight got to me a little bit.

As soon as he started running his mouth too much I knew he was toast. Then when he pulled out the cigarettes and admitting he lied about it. Curtains. I figured Nucky would do it himself because he's all pissy about the respect Owen is getting from others. Maybe if his dumbass wasn't off running around with that showgirl Billie whose twat he's still stuck up for days on end that probably wouldn't happen.
And while I've read enough/seen enough about popular gangsters like Luciano, I was nervous as hell for him when he had to sit in front of that window after Lansky told him not to.

After reading that Luciano eventually kills that guy I wasn't too worried (spoilers?)
Nucky has killed his "soft" side and I think that's the biggest reason why he offed the kid. You could tell a part of him wanted to keep the kid alive

Yeah, I think I'd edit that for the folks who don't know.
As far as Nucky, I think he's definitely caught somewhere between feeling the regret for killing Jimmy/having a heart so to speak and having to run a business that's about to get real bloody. He's constantly having to validate his gangster-ness to others, like he did tonight, because of the doubt there.
I have a feeling at some point that line he keeps crossing to prove himself is going to dissipate.

Yeah, 100% agree with this. He seems a tad threatened by Owen.

Pretty sure he knows or suspects Owen fricked his wife. But in general he's trying to send a message to his entire crew

So did the kid admitting he was 19..
basically guarantee his death sentence? Or was Nucky going to kill him anyways?

Honestly, I don't know that he does. He seems dense as hell when it comes to that kind of shite. See his Billie chick that he legitimately thought he could talk into being exclusively his.

I think Nucky should hire Harrow to take out Gyp and his entire crew at the gas station. He could do it sniper style or just blow up the whole place! Either way Gyp is dominating the bootlegging route and it almost seems as if Nucky doesn't have the strength to counter him.

Gyp and his dego drew are definitely gonna get got at some point this season.
Nucky killing the kid was awesome. Owen had started to get some ideas.
Never have gotten the Margaret hate on this board. She is not as good a character as she was in season 1-2, but still, its nice to see someone struggling with morality and trying to do some good in this BE universe. She was the real moral center in season one, and seeing her compromise that and evolve was brilliantly written.
Philistines.

Great Episode. You can see that the gangster element is starting to evolve past the glad-handing political stuff that gave rise to Nucky and Arnold. Gyp, Al, Charlie and Meyer are the future. The best part of the episode was of course Katy.

Great episode. Love the Al story line throughout.
Some really great dialogue in this one as well. Loved the Nucky, Owen, kid scenes and Micky fricking up.

For those that don't know. Heather Lind (Katy) has a twin sister. Also an actress.

I felt like Nuck was about to let him off the hook, then he showed himself to be a two faced liar who was proud of his ability to lie. Nucky didn't want to deal with that, so he killed him.

It was a really really good episode all around.
Ready for a little Chalky White in my life next Sunday thoough.
This season seems to be continuing what we started last season with Nuck maybe realizing that what was a wink and a handshake and "innocently" illegal is about to run away with him and leave him a full blown gangster. Also he's gone from doing business with guys like Rothstein who I think he respects, to this new breed, that are hot-headed and don't see the business as pragmatically as he and the "older" guard do.
The ambush is also going to get him more hands-on with his affairs. Seems like they dropped us into this season with his operation a bit of a well oiled machine, but he's left a few morons in charge of too much of his business.
