Do whatever we have to do to win this year.

Mett is a good QB, but the OL this year with injuries isn't going to allow him time to throw.

Having another option for teams to plan against might be a good thing in all honesty

I know

Its more about the running game than the passing game. As long as teams keep loading 8 guys in the box because they know our only way to gain positive yards is to run up the middle, our offense is fricked. I'm just trying to suggest a way to prevent teams from doing that to us.

Dropped passes is a completely different discussion

The corner blitz is not the responsibility of the offensive line. That's on the QB to see and react to before it gets to him.

Are we the only elite program that constantly wants to bench its starting QB for "a change of pace"?

at this point, he's asking the depleted Oline to do things they clearly aren't ready/prepared to do, just like has happened with so many skill position players in the past.

I don't think people have figured out the power running game, but last year we made hay running behind Faulk, and he's gone. Hurst is out of position, Vadal isn't ready yet.

Last year we had the personnel that allowed us to line up, tell the D what we were about to do, and then do it. We don't have that this year, but we're still trying to do the same things.

I really don't think the gameplan has caused these problems. The loss of Blue and Faulk have hurt us worse than anyone expected. We haven't been able to do shite since Blue went down

I think our fans put too much faith and too much blame on the QB. After this pattern repeating year after year, clearly the issue is systematic.

As I've said in here, its not about benching Mett. It might only be for 5-6 plays a game, but that might be enough

And do you really think we don't need "a change of pace" right now?

I don't think the QB is wholly free of responsibility for the offensive problems LSU is having right now. He's not the MAIN issue, I would say, but he has some pretty apparent flaws

Teams are starting to come off the edge at him a lot and he still can't see it coming. He seems to struggle with his reads right now.

It'll probably get better as he plays more.

Change all you want. No line- no offense. It really is simple.

Agreed 100%, I'm still hopeful that some adaptation will be made to work with what's on hand and still be successful.

This basic gameplan works. We watched it work for 13 games last year, but we don't have the available personnel to run it unflinchingly like we did last year. It's time for these offensive coaches to make the necessary adjustments.

Changes in schemes won't help the fact that much of the Oline is beat-up

Not going to matter. Who would you put in there?

If you want some predictable change of pace, just run the wildcat with Shep or Ware.

Everything begins with fixing our offensive line.

The coaches need to figure out how to work an offense around that though. Its not their fault the offensive line has been screwed by injuries this year, but trying to continue the same offense we had before those injuries isn't working.

People don't get it. Last time I saw this was the year after Alan Faneca left for the NFL. I believe we also lost Adam Perry and Ben Bordelon that year. Rondel Mealey had run all over defenses the year before but he and Herb Tyler were stymied behind a poor O line. It wasn't the scheme or the skill players we simply had no line. That season stunk. I smell that same stench now. God I hope I'm wrong.

I don't know. This is just my suggestion as a fan. But the coaches are paid to figure this kind of stuff out. I don't know what the answer is, but I know that our same power running game that we used last year isn't it

Agree. Our OL cannot pass block. Mett is going to get hurt unless something is done, especially on the left (blind) side.
