Trick r treat is a legit Halloween flick. Not big at the theatre, but has grown to have a large cult following. It kind of has the same set up as the old creepshow movies, but better. Dam it, now I have to go get it. It's too Halloween what A Christmas story is too Christmas.

I was going to mention this one as well. I just didn't want to name two Depp movies. Anything with antichrist/devil = intense/scary. IMO.

Never seen this, but 6 people have said it was good. I'll check it out.

I've seen that and it was one weird movie
I'm watching The Town That Dreaded Sundown right now, it deserves a spot on the underrated list.

Who knew you can watch full movies on YouTube?
Halloween III: Season of the Witch
I went to find a trailer and ended up finding the whole movie.

Halloween IV
Really the only sequel to capture the suspense and mood of the original.
I watched this again a few weeks ago. Just taken by itself, it's probably the second best Halloween movie after the first one. (Actually, my personal favorite is Halloween II for complicated reasons). That ending for IV just leaves me speechless every time... with the stone silence as the credits roll. Too bad it was watered down a bit in V.
And I second others on Halloween III. It's actually kind of interesting what they were attempting... to make an anthology series with each having a different story. It's definitely better than the endless stream of movies repeating the same formula in a series. But then again, if that had continued we wouldn't have Halloween IV, so I guess I have mixed feelings.

Return of the Living Dead
It's incredibly campy, silly, and fun but there are a few parts of the movie that are generally creepy. It's one that seems to always get overlooked.

Is Hocus Pocus underrated? Or does everyone think that movies as awesome as I do?
Came to see if anyone mentioned cinematic masterpiece. I watched the shite out of it. Probably the second best SJP has ever looked in a movie.

I love II and IV as well, I guess I'm by myself in absolutely hating III. Obviously I is one of the best horror movies of all time, but II wasn't far behind.
I go back and forth on which one was worse, V or VI. Othenin-Grand absolutely destroyed V. VI is weird, Paul Freeman produced IV, VI, H20, and Resurrection so VI was by far the worst of his work.
to Rick Rosenthal though, he was the director for II and Resurrection. He go no favors from the writers in Resurrecton but I liked the movie, really turned a steamy pile of poo that was that storyline into a decent Halloween.

I usually go with VI because that's the only one I have no interest in ever watching again. I remember making a note to myself never to watch it again after it was over. I have at least pulled out V a few times.

Yeah, Resurrection is at least entertaining in one way or another. I usually just consider it as an aside to the Halloween series... not something to be taken seriously as part of the overall storyline.

Adding to the list, because I went through my DVD collection.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2(with Dennis Hopper)
Day of the Dead (original. Savini's makeup is the best in this film)
Scream 4 ( I said it. It brings back true slashers. Not that saw and Hostel gore porn bullshite)
The Orphanage
Deep Calm
Millenium tv series (possibly creepier than X-files. Same creator)
Alien (noody has mentioned this yet. It is over shadowed by the action movie sequel, ut the original is one of the greatest horrors ever)
The Hills Have Eyes - original (few movies unnerve me. This one did. I watched it and thought it was goofy as it was playing. After it ended, I felt the need to lock the doors.)
Poltergeist (everyone has a tv. I felt the need to include this one after having watched it with kids from my film class. They thought it stupid. Dumb kids, and underrated in today's world. Remake will ruin what made it so effective. Sat in on the writer's lecture, she's from LSU. Not a good writer.)
Fallen (can't believe the amount of people who have never seen this masterpiece)
