--Manchester City does NOT repeat as EPL Champion

--Manchester City does NOT qualify for 2013/14 Champions League

--Manchester City does NOT make it out of the Group Stage of 2012/13 Champions League.

--Manchester City gets bounced quickly out of Europa League

--Manchester City has already been bounced from the League Cup

--Manchester City will be bounced early from the FA Cup

That oughta just about cover it.

Well, at least you don't think they're gonna get relegated.

I think they'll have little trouble making it to the knockout rounds of the CL.

You think they're that much better than Borussia?

I think Man City is better even though I'm not impressed in the the least with their summer market (Rodwell, Sinclair, Maicon).

The young CB they got from Fiorentina may be good in the future but it was just insane to throw him in at Real. I suppose it was a take what you can get in the toughest group match thought process.

Still I don't think Dortmund manages to finish ahead of them.

Dortmund has a lot of good young talent but they've been so poor the last 2 years on Europe that I'm really skeptical.

Agree with most of this. I don't think they have the midfield to succeed this year like they did last year.

I think Man city is still the favorite to finish second in that group, but it's not as if they've been particularly convincing in Europe either. In fact, as the OP indicated, they haven't been all that convincing in league play or domestic cup play either. I'd wait until Man City and Borussia play each other before saying either will have an easy time advancing

I agree that their off to a pretty sluggish start with the new faces but, on paper, they have the pieces necessary for not only making it out of group but making a serious run if they can improve. I think the fluid move to the back three will pay dividends long term though they seem to be struggling with it right now. Javi Garcia will need to add the missing dynamism their midfield lacked for Europe last year.

Last year, I think they mainly just ran into an underrated Napoli side whose tactics were so different than anything Man City was used to. I don't see them struggling as much with Dortmund playing more direct but I could be wrong.

"Sky is falling" meltdown aside, their midfield is worse than last year. WTF has happened to Silva? The three or four matches I have seen this season, he has been either a non-factor or a liability.

Garcia has shown bursts of what he can possibly be. He could have an almost--I repeat ALMOST--Drogba-like head.

The back line has been dreadful. I think Mancini has realized the importance of Lescott to his defense. I think if Lescott plays v. RM, City wins.

It's an embarrassment of riches at City. Sometimes you have too much. Remember when LSU had Shaq, Stanley Roberts, Vernel Singleton, Wayne Sims, and Chris Jackson?

Their problem is their almost complete lack of mobility. Managers are finding out how to play against Toura and his surging runs now. A young, energetic midfield causes havoc against City (see Liverpool and Arsenal).

No doubt. Mancini has no clue what his best XI is. Wonder how long it will take him just to revert back to last season's tactics. Their signings this summer had me scratching my head.

I completely agree about energetic midfields giving them problems so far. So far, Garcia nor Rodwell have been nearly as effective as De Jong or even Barry were controlling the defensive side of things. They really seem out of sync all around. The adjustment to the back three, often on the fly, seems to have everyone confused, the backline as much as the midfield.

I would hesitate to say that Toure will be less effective though. He really didn't all that many runs during a match even when they were at their most effective last year. It's just the ones he made were usually deadly. It may be a small sample size to say the threat he poses has been diminished.

Agree that Lescott would have probably made a big difference against Real. He must have had a knock or something that convinced Mancini to rest him as it was just insane to play that kid from Fiorentina in his first match in that fixture.

I'm just not convinced with them at all. They've given up 3 leads in 6 games. They have 0 clean sheets. Mancini's tactics have been ripping my eyes out. Maicon on Ronaldo?? Seriously? Doesn't everyone remember when Rafa started Maicon against Bale in CONSECUTIVE fixtures? What a baffling start from the Italian.

I also don't see how Garcia, Rodwell or Sinclair did anything but create more confusion inside that squad. I don't think any of them improved the squad at all.

I don't think Toure will be ineffective by any stretch, but it seems his runs forward will be less effective this season. It seemed that whenever Mancini needed a goal last season, he would just unleash Toure forward. Seems teams are ready for that now (except Real Madrid of course, their defense is very mediocre).
