Same way it happens in the pro's.

Pass Pro is extremely difficult, especially for someone moving from the inside blocking DT's, to the outside blocking quicker DE's.

so 6th year seniors should be perfect?

There is a reason 6th year seniors didnt leave for the NFL after 3 years.

I'm not saying JD should be starting or trying to give excuses for his poor performance, but he is moving from guard to tackle after missing a year of football.

He said he used poor technique on the cut block and should have waited a bit longer.

How do 28 year old tackles give up sacks to Demarcus Ware? You'd think they would have their technique down by then!?

there is a big time difference from playing guard to tackle.

You know, the other teams have guys on scholarship too. Usually, they are D-1 talent. Sometimes, as in the case of Lemonier, they have NFL potential.

It's a hard concept, but sometimes the guy across from you is just better than you.

it's all good, as long as it is a one-time issue. Correct it and move on.

At least the kid recognized the deficiency. That's the first step, and arguably the most difficult, in making positive changes.

I'm telling you it's way more than a technique issue with Dworaczyk.

It's MOSTLY PHYSICAL. It was the same thing at guard for two years.

There is a surefire way to test this and it will happen after the season. Pay attention to what NFL scouts say about him.

I guarantee you it won't be much. And it's not just because he had an injury. There was not a hint of draft buzz about him when he was playing guard at a school where backups get drafted. And all you had to do was focus in on his play to see it. Most people gloss over the O-line play. But if you specifically watched JD, you saw him being handled physically at the point of attack, even against lesser competition. That doesn't always mean giving up a sack. We see that's an issue now that he's out there playing LT, but when he was inside, you could see him consistently giving up ground when he was engaged in contact, being pushed into the backfield, etc.

The NFL has no bias. And they are willing to overlook technical issues on guys that they think have potential to improve the team. If you can produce and be of value to the organization, they want you.

Miles and the staff have made good personnel decisions, like moving Johnson and Copeland to fullback. Somebody on the staff has done an excellent job at eying under the radar recruits to bring to LSU, especially in the defensive backfield. Playing Dworaczyk at left tackle is a mistake. It's not hard to figure out. There are better options and at some point in the future it will be obvious.

JD seems like a good guy and a good teammate. It's unfortunate that he's put in this position.

T Bob last night said he has good technique. Apparently not in the Auburn game. Heard he was turrible in the Idaho game too.

The same way it happens to anyone, no matter how good he is at his craft. No one, even if he is the absolute best at what he does, is perfect all the time. What is important is that JD is smart enough to recognize what he did wrong in this particular situation and have an understanding of what he needs to do to improve.
Having said that, I think JD is much better at guard than he is at tackle.
