I agree.

Ya, I dont hate it though. Barney had to grow up at some point.

It was pretty good and Robin looks more like the old Robin, so

I actually thought this was one of the weakest episodes of the season. The door-slamming farce never really developed, and I never really bought Lily's reasons for being there or bothering to hide. The A-plot fell flat and the B-plot of Lily and Marshall's parents hooking up also didn't really get any big laughs (except when Marshall covered his baby's eyes).
But still, the show excels at throw away gags: the running joke about not only everyone stealing Ted's stuff, but his ineffectual label making, the note from David Lee Roth ("we'll always have Panama"), Robin yelling at Patrice, Robin's reaction to the intervention ("please tell me this is about my drinking") or Ted wearing the red cowboy boots. Not enough to sustain the episode, but it kept me at least engaged. Plotting bad. Gags good.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. Best one in weeks.

I think this about sums up the series at this point. And the writers seem to realize it, thus the classic gags...the red cowboy boots, the player's handbook, the bro code, etc.

Is this show even about Ted meeting the mother anymore?
Posted on 12/11/12 at 11:35 am to rondo
It never was. It's called a Macguffin.

Is Ted even a character anymore?
Posted on 12/11/12 at 11:39 am to Baloo
It really wasn't. They've actually done more regarding the mother recently because (IMO)they are running out of material and people are getting impatient.
Posted on 12/11/12 at 11:40 am to TreyAnastasio
A douchy one, that nobody cares, or has empathy for anymore.
Posted on 12/11/12 at 11:59 am to White Shadeaux
They dont even use him to advance the plot anymore. This season Teds whole existence has been to be a whiny bitch.
Posted on 12/11/12 at 12:50 pm to TreyAnastasio
I know it's mindless and stupid, but I cracked up everytime someone had something of Ted's. Those little labels got me for some reason, especially the label on the label maker

Naw...all the old episodes referenced him meeting their mother
I am not asking if we ever will meet her...just seems like he us telling his kids the story of how barney and robin got married now.
Show should be called, "these two people's courtship"

It has become the Barney and Robin show hasn't it?
Posted on 12/11/12 at 2:32 pm to White Shadeaux
Last night was decent. Some solid laughs.
The Patrice thing is dumb. As Robin said "Oh this is still happening?"
When does this season end? It seems quite obvious theyre stringing thisbout another season

I think I speak for everyone else that is just watching it because we've already invested so much in it because of its early solid years...not soon enough.

Have they announced that Ted is actually going to die alone yet?
I want him to die alone.

I've invested so much time into this series and now I just want them to end it. It just feels like nothing happens week after week after week but after 8 years I just have to see where it finishes.
I can't remember the last time they advanced Ted's storyline.
