I remember the Knoxville Paper in 2000 that wrote a piece about Tiger Stadium is not all that anymore. The three games that LSU and Tennessee have played in Tiger stadium since that article, No three game stretch between two teams in history of sports could have been closer than the last three games between LSU and Tennessee since that article was written.

Recall it well. The writer said LSU should call it Kevorkian Valley instead of Death Valley since all LSU did was die there. It really fired us up for that UT game. Amazing how perspective for the two programs have changed over the past decade or so.
And great piece by ESPN.

Wiki on the Bridge
but they did finally put signs up with the name of it
quote:
The bridge is named after three separate Horace Wilkinsons who served a total of 54 years in the Louisiana legislature. Horace Wilkinson, along with his son and grandson, were honored with the naming of the I-10 bridge by Act 206 of the Louisiana Legislature in 1968.

From Wikipedia: :)
ETA: Ash beat me to it.
quote:
The Horace Wilkinson Bridge is a cantilever bridge carrying Interstate 10 in Louisiana across the Mississippi River from Port Allen in West Baton Rouge Parish to Baton Rouge in East Baton Rouge Parish. Around the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area, the bridge is more commonly known as the "New Bridge" because it is the younger of the two bridges that cross the river in Baton Rouge. The structure begins at the Louisiana Highway 1 (LA 1) exit south of Port Allen. After the interstate crosses the superstructure, it remains an elevated viaduct up to the Dalrymple Drive exit to Louisiana State University. It is the highest bridge on the Mississippi River.

They only put a sign up in the last year or so calling it the Horace Wilkinson bridge. Media outlets are using that now but people in BR don't call it that....and probably never will.

Agreed. The I-10 Bridge or the new bridge is what we will always probably call it. But it gives you an amazing view of Tiger Stadium every time you cross it.

It is a great view...especially since I am in traffic everyday coming back to BR

every time we cross over that bridge into BR, my wife says, "go ahead and look" ... and then I cast mine eyes on thy Tiger Stadium glory.
before she says it i have to pretend like I'm watching the road.
oh, and i totally figured me mentioning the new bridge would result in a threadjack!
