For two years this program has dominated every aspect of nearly every game, with the lone exception of the most important position on the field. It’s not a stretch to say that the quarterback spot—specifically Jefferson and Lee—prevented LSU from winning national championships in 2010 and 2011. Matt Hayes-Sporting News I agree with this statement. The question is, "Will CLM use the passing game to make the LSU offense nearly impossible to defend?" I have my doubts.
Who gives a frick what you think?

ya' mean the Jefferson/Lee combo that guided LSU to a two year record of 24-3? the only thing that prevented us from possibly winning a natcham in '10 was CamfrickingNewton. in '11 it was a 'total team' failure that cost us the rematch with bama.
not surprised that Matt Hayes missed the most important points of each season....not surprised that you would agree with him either. any rational observor of LSU football understood that both Jefferson/Lee, warts and all, were a big reason why we even had a chance to win it all. this woulda', coulda', shoulda' crap if for juveniles.
the only thing that matter is what happens from this moment on.

What's curious bout it when your team is going 13-0?
Can you give a team in college football who you have seen doing some kinda special/more than normal developing of their #3 QB while that team is going 13-0?
Look, the beef with Miles, if you have to have one, should be directed toward the fact that we haven't had a consistently good QB since he kicked RP off the team in 08.
But I think the teams record/success since that time certainly should show to any wishing to be objective that LSU has been pretty damn effective in using mediocre QB play to bring bout elite team like results.

True enough. Again, I think this Offense has the makings of an unstoppable force to go with the immovable object on the other side of the ball. USC does not look like such a big deal to me. I still view satan and the gumps and the team to beat. Looking forward to two unbeaten teams squaring off on Nov 3.

Les is great but aren't there any lessons to be learned from how last season concluded?
Coaches are always, always, always evaluated on not only what they actually accomplish but what they also could have accomplished (within reason). We had already beaten Bama so is it unreasonable to think we could defeat them? Nope.
We had an awesome season and won the SEC. Great (and it was great; unbelievable feeling standing in TS and seeing 12-0 on the scoreboard) but we could have and should have done more.
My beef with Les is that he took an O that was used for eight weeks, served us well, and was maturing (of which JJ was an integral part of the maturation) and mothballed it and replaced it with an O that made JJ the centerpiece. That was stupid. Our QB situation wasn't as bad as many make it out to be last season.

from what we've seen, i think the real question is will Mettenberger make the most of his 20-25 attempts/game?
WHat games have you been watching? From what I've seen Mett needs a little help from his receivers catching a few balls he puts on their numbers.

The LSU offense after the Aub. game last season was averaging 372 total yds and scoring 39 pts a game.
After the Ga game, the LSU offense was averaging 375 yds and scoring 39pts a game.
As you know, the games played from Aub to Ga had LSU playing the #1 and #3 D's in the nation.
I really don't see how we get "stupid" out of it when after Aub. we gained more yds and scored as many pts while playing the #1 and #3 D in the nation.
The NCG was not decided on the field by the QB play. It was decided at the LOS. We didn't win our 1st 13 cause of QB play and we didn't lose our 14th just cause of QB play. imo
Whatever happened last yr, it's over, done and wayyyyyyyy past time to move on.

What I want to know is how many passes we have in the first two quarters, when the game may still be in reach for the teams like Washington...then just multiply that by two to find out what we would throw against teams like south Carolina or bama that hang in the whole game...
Ofcourse that may change with game plans and in game situations...
Ofcourse

won a national title here in 2007.
This should be mute point now. That was 5 years ago. Since then, 3 other SEC teams have won the BCS title.
Miles got the kudos he deserved for winning that, but it's time to move on. In my opinion, the goodwill he earned from winning the 2007 BCSCG was used up when he laid a big fat egg on 1/9/12.

Yes. That is it. He burned up some good will on 1/9, maybe a lot of it. It wasn't the loss, it was the fact that LSU was never in the game and the STAFF made no attempt to adjust to what was going on. It was as though they had become the Stepford coaches. How does one explain that absolute bomb of a game plan? One can say that it is time to move on, but I do not necessarily agree given what went down, not just that night though that was the culmination, but the entire season with the QBs. To say it was bizarre would barely cover it.
Jefferson began to play in the UK game and got progressively more snaps as time went on despite showing, IMHO, nothing. Nada, nihil, zip, nothing. I look back on it and still can find no rational explanation for it.
Then, there was ZM who was supposed to be all-world. OK, fine. Why not play him some in all of those blowouts when LSU was going 13-0? Are all of you saying there was no point at all to doing so? If his attitude was bad, the coach should "adjust" it. How is it that there appears to have been no forethought to the end of the season about the QB position? No way ZM could have been developed and used in the 1/9 debacle? None? That is not the mark of brilliance.
It is relevant because opportunities for winning a NC are few and far between. His handling of the QB situation made no sense then and makes less now, seeing ZM play. There is no guarantee that this team will be in the game this year. Losing to satan is the worst thing that this team can do, IMHO.
