I bought my kids a browning x-bolt micro hunter to share. It fits them perfect (9 and 11years old). It is a little more expensive but finding a good fitting rifle for them to get comfortable with and enjoy shooting was most important. I also love shooting It. Caliber is another discussion. Depends on the size of your child and how they react to recoil and report of the rifle.
