Don't give a shite about after 1990.

God damn what is it with you and this after 1990 bullshite?
Seriously. That removes like 90% of Westerns. The Western is basically dead, even though we get one every once in a while.

Back to the future 3 (1990)
Last of the Mohicans takes place in upstate New York and in Canada and is filmed in North Carolina.
I can't think of a better western than Tombstone since it came out.

Like I said.
I did not want this to become a John Wayne vs. Clint Eastwood debate.
Might as well go the Music Board and ask "Beatles or Stones"?

I think maybe this movie was overhyped for me before I watched it, cuz other than Val being entertaining, I wasn't all that impressed. I actually preferred Quaid's Doc Holliday. But I'm sure I'm stupid.

I wanted to like this movie, and honestly I kind of did, but wow I was bored for a long time.

But that brings in older guys and movie buffs that would bring in black and white films and John Wayne films.
Oh, the horror.

I don't care for VK generally but he was certainly the best thing in Tombstone, which I don't care for otherwise.
But I'm not going to knock it too much. It apparently is this generation's western, and anything that makes the genre more popular -- and perhaps, influences younger people to investigate the masterpieces of the past -- I'm all in favor of.
The western will never be as ever-present as it once was (for various reasons I won't go into), but it would be nice to see some sort of comeback.

I didn't care for his Doc, though admittedly it was not as horrific as his psycho Sam Houston in The Alamo.
For me the role of Doc Holliday will always belong to Kirk Douglas in Gunfight At The OK Corral.

The question should be, Better westerns than Lightning Jack?
